1. This question paper contains two parts A and B.
2. All questions are compulsory.
PART - A:
1. It consists of two sections – I and II.
2. Section I has 9 questions of 1 mark each.
3. Section II has 1 question on case study. The case study has 4 case – based sub parts.
PART – B:
1. Question number 11 to 15 are very short answer type questions of 2 marks each.
2. Question number 16 to 19 are short answer type questions of 3 marks each.
3. Question number 20 is long answer type question of 5 marks.
3. If 𝑛(𝑈) = 50, 𝑛(𝐴) = 38, 𝑛(𝐵) = 30, then find the least value of 1

9. Write a quadratic equation such that the A.M. between the roots of 1
the equation is 8 and the G.M. is 5.
Section II
10. An auditorium is a room built to enable an audience to hear and
watch performances. For movie theatres, the number of auditoria
is expressed as the number of screens.
An auditorium has 20 seats in the first row, 24 seats in the second
row and 28 seats in the third row and so on.

12. Show that the relation 𝑅 on the set 𝑹 of real numbers, defined as 2
𝑅 = {(𝑎, 𝑏): 𝑎 ≤ 𝑏2 } is not transitive.
13. If 𝑓 (𝑥) = 𝑝𝑥 + 𝑞, where 𝑝 and 𝑞 are integers 𝑓 (−1) = 1 and 2
𝑓 (2) = 13, then find the value of 𝑝 and 𝑞.
14. If 𝑓 (𝑥) = 2𝑥 + 5 and 𝑔(𝑥) = 𝑥 2 + 1, then describe the functions: 2

15. Find the minimum value of the expression 3𝑥 + 31−𝑥 , 𝑥 ∈ 𝑹 2
Section – IV
18. Find the domain for which the functions 𝑓(𝑥) = 2𝑥 2 − 1and 𝑔(𝑥) = 3
1 − 3𝑥 are equal.

20. In a University, out of 100 students 15 offered Mathematics only; 12 5
offered Statistics only; 8 offered Physics only; 40 offered Physics and
Mathematics; 20 offered Physics and statistics; 10 offered
Mathematics and Statistics; 65 offered Physics. Find the number of
students who
(i) Offered Mathematics
(ii) Did not offer any of the above three subjects.
