•Building up Public spaces for the same have an opportunity to bring everyone in this global conversation and to
bridge what is called the DIGITAL DIVIDE.
•It is said that “ Formal education will make you a living , Self education will make you a fortune ”.
•Learning Centre will promote wider reading, motivated leaders and learners for life. It will promote the wider reading
and will now be regarded as intergral part of social development.
•Now-a-days a Learning Centre should have multiple range of functions running parallely with it. A few advance level
academic exercise like workshop, seminars and guest lecture become necessary for making it socially active.
•So a Learning Centre is not just a space to access physical and digital data but also create an environment to initiate
interactions between people and exchange their knowledge.
•The Thesis would attempt to examine the various aspects of Learning Centre such as nature and intellectual design of
library, in an age of increasing digital dominance over digital knowledge.
• It would try to re-imagine and re-invent the character and need of Learning Centre in rapidly changing urban
context by understanding the necessities of various grades of societies.
Aim
•To understand role of Learning Centre not only as storage of books for individual development but also in terms of
community growth.
•To identify the architectural challenges like space distribution and element planning of those spaces considering the
typology of existing Learning Centre in India.
Objective
•To examine various aspects of Learning Centre such as the nature and intellectual design of a library, in an age of increasing
digital dominance over subjective knowledge.
•To achieve Individual as well as community learning and also meet the educational needs of children and people.
•To support formal and informal education system, access to knowledge must be provided in printed and other forms.
Areas of Research
•How can re-interpreting a Learning Centre in 21st century , help revive and re-activate it as a public space ?
•How can the space be inclusive of all genders, ages and classes ?
•What are the features of the knowledge hub to serve in order to become productive and relevant in today’s context ?
