Submission Guidelines for ‘Post Graduate Certificate in Finance (Taxation


Law)

As a part of the curriculum of Post Graduate Certificate in Finance (Taxation Law), students
need to submit two submissions (one in each semester). Students should need to follow
certain internal evaluation procedures of SCDL. A student is expected to choose any relevant
(from Taxation domain) topic of his/her interest.
The students are supposed to provide both the submissions online. Both the above components
comprises of 100 marks each with 50% passing.
Every learner has to submit the soft copy of the complete submission online using Submission
Link available in Student Centre. Only the soft copy of the submission I and II needs to be
submitted. Student should not send hardcopy of the submissions to the SCDL. Learners should
submit their submissions as per the guidelines given by SCDL. Submissions which are not as
per the guidelines will not qualify for evaluation.

1. Understanding significance of Submissions


Many learners underestimate the significance of a Submissions and make a mistake of thinking
that excellent marks can be scored by simply producing a good lay-out.
This is fundamentally not the case as many Submissions are graded well below their potential
because of an indifferent or poor write-up. In order to acquire the right balance, a learner should
consider the aim behind making a good Submissions.
It provides the opportunity for a learner to demonstrate independence and originality, to plan
and organize the submissions, and to put into practice some of the techniques a learner has been
taught throughout the program.

2. Meaning of a Submission
A Submission can be defined as a temporary endeavor undertaken to achieve a particular aim
or it is a study of factual information for comprehending and applying the various concepts of
the course into practice. In simple words, a Submission can be understood as mentioned under:

It is also a technique of self-learning, learning by doing. It has a practical value.
The purpose of Submission is not to generalize but to study the situation with a practical
orientation.

3. Technical specifications of the Submissions

First (preliminary) page should have the following information:

i) Top: The Title in BLOCK CAPITALS


ii) Centre: Full name of the student in Capital letters and Registration Number
iii) Full name of the Guide (If any) in BLOCK letters, with the designation
iv) Bottom: Name of the Institute (i.e. SCDL), in Block Capitals, and the
Academic year

4. Instructions for the preparation of online Submissions


The title of the Submissions should not be the same as the objectives, as there can
be more than one objective for a particular study.
Each objective shall have at least one or more findings and suggestions.
Learner must ensure adequate coverage of the topic in general and objectives in
particular.
Colored figures/diagrams/graphs/tables will add value to the presentation of the
report.
Every table and diagrammatic representation should have a serial number and a
caption.
Both Submissions are to be submitted online using appropriate interface.
Submissions shall be of minimum 20-25 pages (excluding annexure) for both
semesters of Post Graduate Certificate in Finance (Taxation Law).

5. Chapterization:
Following sequence should be followed while submitting both the submissions.

Discuss with concerned persons, your specific requirements and select the
subject/topic in their consultation.
Discuss with your faculty concerned, before making a choice of your subject/topic.

magazines to look for a desired topic.

The students are requested to contact SCDL within 8 -10 working days after the submission marks
are reflected in performance sheet. The queries on submission evaluation received after above said
timeline will not take into consideration.

Students should submit the submissions online (in soft copy) through login
Please note Plagiarism check is mandatory before submitting the final soft copy to SCDL for
evaluation. In simple terms, plagiarism is copy-paste. Students can use the Free and Open
Source Software (FOSS) available online for checking the same (For e.g.
http://plagiarisma.net/) as per the UGC guidelines, similarity index should be less than 10%.
The plagiarism report should be attached with the submission.
Please note that, the plagiarism report (plagiarism below 10%) is mandatory and the submission
will be considered for evaluation only after the specific criteria of less than 10% is met by the
learner.

Students are required to submit the submission online with applicable Fee. The fees can be paid
online through or by Demand Draft. The D/D should be in favor of “The Director SCDL, Pune”
payable at Pune and attached the D/D with duly filled Service Request Form on following
address.

Submission is to be typed and should not be handwritten. Handwritten Submission will not be
considered for evaluation.

The student are required to submit individual Submission as per the guidelines given. The
preparation of Submission as Group activity or copied shall be avoided and found if any will
not be considered for further evaluation which please may be noted
