Bloom’s Taxonomy List by name the level(s) of Bloom’s addressed within this lesson:
Levels Remembering, Understanding, Applying, Analyzing, Evaluating, Creating
Integration Level Level 4: Integration
Universal Design This project is very engaging for my students. It’s hand-on and students are
Rationale able to work at their own pace and be creative. This lesson supports action
and expression because students have autonomy when creating their e-book.
The representation aspect is there because the students can illustrate their
knowledge through multi-media. It supports engagement because it is
student-led, the teacher is there as a guide.
Lesson Idea For this day, I created a project and shared the expectations for my students.
My students will join my classroom on bookcreator.com. They will then create
their own e-book explaining how energy is transferred through an ecosystem.
This can be a storyline, comic book, informational book for 4th graders, or
whatever they choose. The students can work at their own pace, but it takes
about 2 class periods to complete the project. Images, whether they be digital
or hand-drawn are expected. They should create the book as if they are
creating it for someone who has no prior knowledge.
After they are turned in, students will fill out a digital form on another book
paying one compliment to it. Students are graded on a rubric that is returned
to them shortly.
Design Reflection I think this project is impactful on the student’s level of learning. Their books
can be previewed by others, which teaches them responsibility. Also, they
must be able to analyze the ecosystem and understand it well enough to
teach it through a book. I think it would be fun to open the project to be more
than just an e-book so students who have different strengths could excel.
