II. Background

Schools can help young people with their mental health in a variety of ways. Schools

provide protective elements for young people's mental health, including a relationship with

trusted adults such as teachers and pastoral assistance, in addition to giving stability,

regularity, and consistency. However, since COVOD-19 happens, face to face class is

prohibited until there is no vaccine to that virus. But according to Magsambol B. (September

2020) that despite requests to postpone school until 2021, the Department of Education

(DepEd) insists that millions of Filipino kids' education should not be put on hold. He also

stated that To ensure that learning is not impeded, the Department of Education will use a

distant learning method, which is a learning delivery modality in which contact takes occur

between a teacher and students who are physically separated during teaching. This means

lessons will be delivered outside the traditional face-to-face setup. And since most students

still struggle with technology and online access, DepEd will provide printed module

materials for them.

According to Chin M. (October 2020), that modular learning is one of the highly

convenient for most of the typical Filipino students. At the same time, it was also the most

preferred learning system of majority of parents/guardians based on the result of the Learning

Enrollment and Survey Form (LESF).

Galias J.T. (January 2021) stated that “Senior High School learners are the ones heavily

affected by school closures amid COVID-19. Learning has been done remotely, through

modules, internet, television or radio, for example. However, the degree to which learning

can still take place outside the classroom, particularly in Technical-Vocational-Livelihood

(TVL) Track, is often limited by lack of access to electricity, internet connectivity, devices or

media, learning platforms, or the inadequate preparation of teachers and students for distance

learning.”. In addition, he also stated that, TVL's trademark – its emphasis on practical skills

and job preparedness – makes remote learning particularly difficult. Practical skills are

frequently developed through hands-on experience gained through job immersion or by

learning-by-doing in school-based workshops and laboratories. Distance learning methods

are increasingly seen as a poor alternative for practical exercises that need the use of

equipment or materials not often accessible in the house. In general, TVL specialties

(particularly ICT - animation) that rely significantly on learning-by-doing suffer the most

with distant learning adaptation. That is why the researcher aims to determine the positive

and negative effects of modular learning to the ICT- animation students particularly at

Lutucan Integrated National Highschool.

III. Objectives and Methods

The main objectives of this study entitled “Positive and Negative Effects of

Modular Learning to the ICT (Animation) Student of Lutucan Integrated National

Highschool.” are the following:

1. To determine if the modular learning is effective especially to the ICT-

animation students.

2. To determine the positive effects of modular learning to the ICT- animation

students.

3. To determine the negative effects of modular learning to the ICT- animation

students.

For the methods of this research, the researcher applied the descriptive method to

be able to distinguish the positive and negative effects of modular learning to the ICT-

animation student of Lutucan Integrated National Highschool. The researchers considered

the descriptive method as an indispensable method to be used for it describe situations.

IV. Working Framework

Based on the foregoing concepts, the researcher encourages to conduct this study

entitled “Positive and Negative Effects of Modular Learning to the ICT- Animation

Student of Lutucan Integrated National Highschool” and a input-process- output model of

the study was conceived and prepared by the researchers as shown in Figure 1.

presents the positive and negative effects of modular learning to the ICT- Animation

student of Lutucan Integrated National Highschool. The process shows the assessment of

respondents. Lastly, the output presents the proposed action plan on how the students of

ICT- Animation will avoid the negative effects of modular learning.

V. Assumption

The researcher was led by the following assumption:

1. The respondent will answer the questionnaire in an honest and candid manner.

2. The inclusion criteria of the sample are appropriate and therefore, assures that

the participants have all the experienced the same or similar phenomenon of

the study.

VI. Timetable

This section shows the timeline of the research that will guide the researcher to be

able to work on important activities necessary for the researcher to complete their

research.
