II.Background of the Study

Our study investigates factors associated with alcoholism among TVL Senior
High students from the North Davao Colleges Panabo City. The importance of such
research is explained below.
Most Filipino, as well as many Senior High students consume alcohol as part of
daily life. It was significant to them in terms of social world. It is possible that refusing to
participate in this customary activity will cause you to be excluded from the boarder
youth scene. This is a major problem, especially in the case of young people,
alcoholism can have a quite negative effect on their health (for example, Mukamel et al.
2003, Ruiteburg). Alcoholism is not only affects the body but it also affects on their
academic performances.
In the Philippines alcohol consumption has become more prevelant in the decade.
Alamingly in 2011. Filipinos were found to be the second highest consumers of alcohol
in Southeast Asia, next to Indonesia (World Health Organization,2011). According to
Global Based student Health Survey (GSHS) almost 70% of students try alcohol before
age 14. The survey recorded a 67% of total of students who tried alcohol before the age
14 years for the first time in their life, there were 16.5% students who ever drank so
much that they were really drunk during their life.
research determines the impact of alcoholism on students academic performance
in TVL students in North Davao Colleges Panabo City DDN. Usually among TVL
students boys who drink have less motivation to do well in school and cited poorer
academic performance compared to their peers. The site of action of alcohol in the body
is the brain. It depresses the activity of certain functions of the brain. As such, as
alcohol is classified as a central nervous system depressant.
In this lite the researchers decided to conduct this study because to solve or
conduct this study because to know the effects of alcoholism on their academic
performance among TVL students. And to solve or decreased the level of TVL students
who are addicted to alcohol in North Davao Colleges.

III.OBJECTIVES AND METHODS

This study seeks to determine whether TVL students in North Davao Colleges
have an impact on their academic performance as a result of their alcoholism.
The researcher aims to understand the impact of drinking on their physical
health and to acquire additional insights from TVL Senior High Schoolers experiences.
We will determine whether there is a significant relationship between alcoholism and
academic performances among TVL students in NDC Panabo City.

IV. WORKING FRAMEWORK

Three (3) Senior High School students will be interviewed

V.ASSUMPTIONS

The students drinking has a big effect on academics because they will
be high, they will lose their desire to go to school.
Alcoholism would effect the student academic performance compared to
peers were not associated with any alcohol behavior.
