SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter presents the summary of the study, conclusions derived from the

findings, and the recommendations of the researchers.

Summary of Findings

This study was conducted to assess the feasibility study on used cigarette filter

and acetone as main components in making glue. The total respondents of the study are

one hundred (100) random students of Camiling Catholic School, Inc. This study focused

on the effectiveness of the used cigarette filter and acetone in making glue.

The description of the used cigarette filter and acetone as main component in

making glue under treatment one, two, three, five, six, seven, and eight in terms of

science connectivity, explanation of the output to the investigation, innovation,

advantages to the people and environment, project objectives, materials and equipment

and application has the average mean score ranging from 3.71 to 4.02 with the verbal

description of very good. While the general quality of the treatments texture, scent, and

sticking capacity which has the mean score ranging from 2.94 to 3.49 and the verbal

description of good. The best treatment among the eight is the treatment six with an

average mean score of 3.79 with the verbal description of very good. The alternative glue

made up of used cigarette filter and acetone is feasible.

25

Conclusions

Based on the findings, the following conclusions were drawn:

1. The description of the used cigarette filter and acetone as glue under treatment

six got the highest overall mean among the treatments in terms of science connectivity,

explanation of the output to the investigation, innovation, advantages to the people and

environment, project objectives, materials and equipment and application with a verbal

description of very good.

2. The description of the used cigarette filter and acetone as glue in terms of

texture, and scent has a verbal description of good. The sticking capacity has a verbal

description of very good. The best treatment is treatment 6 which is comprised of 20 pcs

of cigarette filter and 15 ml acetone.

3. The utilization of cigarette filter and acetone as main component in making

glue is feasible.

Recommendations

Based on the findings and conclusions of the study, the following are

recommended:

To the glue manufacturer, they should consider using cigarette filter and

acetone as main component in making glue. The color and the smell of the glue are some

of the factors that they should improve. That they also include a product description in

order for the consumers know the do's and don'ts and how to use the glue properly and

Soak all the used cigarette filters in 90% alcohol to disinfect before mix in acetone.
26

To the students, they should use this alternative glue in colored paper only. This

glue is not yet recommended for white papers. Therefore, they should use a plastic glove

and a mask for their safety.

To the future researchers, they should look for the materials or equipment that

will promote healthy lifestyle in order to make the production more effective and

efficient.
