speaking about the browser. This programme is a sort of remote control to find
information on the Web.
It combines all the pieces of the Web - text, audio and images- into "pages" that
appear on your computer screen.
With browsers, it is very easy to navigate the Net: You just point at something on
the screen, click on it, and the Net instantly links you to the information that you
want: the seven o´clock news, a weather map or perhaps your e-mail.

overestlmating its possibilities.

Do you want to surf the Internet? Well there are different ways. You can get on the
Net via a PC modem. Modems deliver information to computers through telephone
lines. You can also choose new options.
For example: the speedy cable modem. These special modems connect PCs to the
Net through cable-TV systems. They are more expensive, but they transmit
information 50 times faster than a conventional modem.
In the near future, a network of 288 low-orbit stellities will connect you to Internet at
ultrafast speeds (1,500,000 bps).

can hook up to the Net via your TV set.

technology was first available in the USA at the end of 1996.

market, there is a new microelectronic device which enables you to view and
operate your PC on your TV screen without wires.
It is a product that integrates computer technology, television programming and
Internet accessibility in homes and offices. Users control their PCs with a remote
keyboard through a transmitter/receiver technology: One transmiter plugs into their
PC or laptop and one transmitter plugs into their TV - without cables. This device
transmits audio/video signals through walls, celings and floors up to 30 metres
away.
