INTRODUCTION
During the construction of any project, the client, construction companies faces a lot of
challenges, it maybe shortage of labour, material, money, transportation strikes and many
other issues like that. Handling all those issues is not easy job to do, the construction company
may go through loss if any these challenges come by suddenly i.e., strikes etc. therefore, proper
project planning is done before starting a project to avoid ambiguities.

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Resource management is a process, which helps in managing all the resources before
time, for a project. It helps in avoiding the mishaps, caused due to lack of resources during a
construction project. Construction companies may fail to meet the deadlines, if they are not
able to meet the client’s requirements.

TYPES OF RESOURCES IN
CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
There are several types of resources that are used in any construction project, some of them
are as follows:
> Materials
> Labour
> Transportation
> Machinery
> Techniques/Tools
> Finance

MATERIALS
Materials are the basic need in any construction project, starting from bricks, cement,
reinforcement, mortar to finishes tiles and other materials. Availability of the right amount of
material resources is the important part of any project to make in profitable.
LABOUR
Labour is the major part of the project, the men who will provide all the services of the
project. From laying the foundation of the project to final finishes etc.

TRANSPORTATION
Not all materials are locally available. Maybe the project needs some finishes that are
not local, thus transportation is necessary to get those materials to use in the projects.
Therefore, scheduling the transportation facility beforehand is important.

MACHINERY
Machines are needed in the project especially for slab working etc. Arranging machinery
for construction is an important part of the project.

TECHNIQUES/TOOLS
One of the major resources of any project, is using the tools or techniques. The right
tools plays important role towards the project.

FINANCE
Finance is the most important resource of the project. Having enough finance to start a
project and finish it smoothly is important. Rather than doing it step by step. The construction
project once started should end within a certain time, or the materials tend to lose the required
strength.
