Matter
the substance or substances of which any physical object consists or is composed
Solid
having relative firmness, coherence of particles, or persistence of form, as matter
that is not liquid or gaseous
Liquid
composed of molecules that move freely among themselves but do not tend to
separate like those of gases; neither gaseous or solid
Gas
a substance possessing perfect molecular mobility and the property of indefinite
expansion, as opposed to a solid or liquid
Phase Change
a change from one state to another without a change in chemical composition
Temperature
a measure of the warmth or coldness of an object or substance with reference to
some standard value
Melting
to become liquefied by warmth or heat
Vaporization
The state of a liquid being turned into a gas
Boiling Point
the temperature at which the vapor pressure of a liquid is equal to the pressure of
the atmosphere on the liquid
Evaporation
A change from liquid to vapor form
Condensation
the act or process of reducing a gas or vapor to a liquid or solid form
Freezing
change from a liquid to a solid state by loss of heat
Sublimation
the process of changing from a solid to a gas without passing through an
intermediate liquid phase
Absolute Zero
the hypothetical point at which all molecular activity ceases
Deposition
