Purpose.

  Learn more about our municipality and more than Neiba Neiba
is a beautiful town and several battles for our independence were
made.
Justification

To learn more about Neyba customs, traditions, economy etc.

Neyba
Neiba, Neiba sometimes spelled, it is the capital of the Province of Bahoruco in the
Valley of the same name, southwest of the Dominican Republic.

Location

It is located in the heart of the Valle de Neiba, composed of sections and sites, many
located in the mountains of the eponymous valley and Sierra.

It is located in the southwest of the country limited the north with San Juan province,
the northeast with Azua province, southeast with the province Barahona and south and
west by the province independence.

Limit

Its limits are to the north by the Sierra de Neiba; on the south by the Sierra de
Bahoruco; west to Lake Enriquillo, municipality of the Rivers and Villa Jaragua and to
the east, with Tamayo, Galván and Noble Vicente.

Hydrography

Its main rivers and streams are: The Marias, Panzo River, Don Juan and sleeve. Some of
which, by the great aggression against nature, they have reduced their channel and
others have gone, as is the case with, among others, La Higuera and Llantica (Entourage
Breaker, Breaker Grande). This has considerably reduced the traditional farming.

 Culture

The municipality owns defined cultural characteristics enough and we could mention as
their most important aspects: beliefs, customs, myths, religion, sports, cultural
organizations, and local cultural heritage.
The people of this town stand out as kind, friendly and caring people, like to share with
family, friends and neighbors their pains, joys, feasts and drinks.

Most cultural institutions have not been perennial lack of government support, there are
only today: The Cultural Committee of Management which has developed over the
years 2012-2013-2014 NEYBERO CARNIVAL AND FESTIVITIES St. Bartholomew
the Apostle, Baroque cultural sports clubs, social Rafaelin Hernandez and clubs like the
Lions Club, Lodge Brotherhood of Bahoruco, Neyba Forward Club, youth ministry,
ManitosVIP. Neyba young, the Parish Choir, the Club Century XIII of the Caamaño
District, among others.
The municipality has a municipal band directed by Prof. Onesimo Peña Mendez.

CARNIVAL NEYBERO: In previous years a carnival in Neyba called Carnival


Motorized where celebrated youth disguised the February 27 and ran through the streets
of Neiba but years later he was out of control where participants no longer disguised
and ran high velocities occurred where a lot of accidents by the same lack of control in
2012 after a group of young people decided to take the reins and organize Neybero
Carnival where all age groups can participate safely and colorful where families can go
and enjoy the different troupes traditional and guests from all over the country visit this
Carnival Neybero around 300 invited troupes and over 150 native people who come for
three consecutive days to enjoy this event which to next or previous week marks 10
March is the week where the Foundation Day is celebrated the Bahoruco Province.

Other events are: the municipal book fair and neybera fair culture and grapes.

Religion

Since its origins this town has militated in the Catholic religion, since in the early
twentieth century, as they arise new Christian currents that penetrating by the
neighboring Section of Notch, they spread throughout the region forming parallel with
the catholicism .

Sports

The sports played in the municipality are: baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball,
handball, chess, dominoes, among others.

Local Economy

In this municipality vine, banana, nuts and beef cattle goats and cattle are grown.

Production levels in the municipality are mainly supported by agricultural, commercial


and minimally activities in land transport.

The most cultivated areas are: bananas, beans, coffee, grapes, bananas, chives, coconut,
papaya, and other minor items of short cycles. Agriculture is mainly subsistence.
The town's most important crops are coffee and grapes. The municipality of Neiba was
first in exporting coffee towards alternative markets of Europe and for the
industrialization of the grape a factory for the production of wines, wine, alcohol and
jam, with the assistance of the Government of Italy and Spain were built.
Another aspect considered important economic activity, is the presence of commercial
banks and other institutions of financing of productive projects, such as: Banco
ADEMI, Toilet, Prornipime, Estafetas Services Reserve Bank, Barahona Savings and
Loan Association, Agricultural Bank.
Conclusion

Upon completion of this work we have been able to learn much


more about the history of Neiba, which affects us most are the
problems that are happening: medical malpractice, the high cost
of things, the problem with the light and water.

The positive is that Neyba is a nice place culturally and gives the
best grapes and wine country.

Vasty: Neiba is a beautiful place but has enough problems.
