GIBBS REFLECTIVE CYCLE

I. DESCRIPTION
In growth and development, I am focused on children’s growth and
development. The purpose of growth and development is to bring the individual
to the stage of healthy adulthood, physically characterized by the end of growth
with full sexual maturity and fertility for the individual. Since it is prohibited to go
outside, we are advised to choose who will be our client’s and it will be one of our
families. The Mulato family is the involved clients and these are: Angelica Mulato
aged 7, and Trisha Mulato 11. I did some assessment by interviewing them and
taking their health history and health assessment. I also did a Comparative Study
of their growth and development that will be based on the theories, and making
nursing care plan.

II. FEELINGS
I feel anxious and having doubts to myself is what I am feeling conducting
the growth and development plan to my clients. Apparently, I am not good
socializing and engaging to other people since I am an introvert. However,
successfully conducted the plan without any problems and hindrances. Before
the situation, I always think of something that could make me anxious, example,
What if I could hurt them? And so on. Endless negative questions are always
popping in my mind. But after the situation, I feel enlightened and the burden in
my mind was completely vanished. I tried my very best to put them at ease
before the situation to establish rapport with the family. After the situation, I think
they feel comfortable with me and they were kind in cooperating with the
assessment. I can see that they’re calm, and it calms me as well. Overall, I was
happy with the situation that I was able to accomplish the assessments
successfully.
III. EVALUATION
The good experience is that I was able to help the Angelica Mulato and
Trisha Mulato to promote growth and development. I was able to spread my
knowledge about the theories and advocate them to influence one another to
promote growth and development within the environment as well. Also, the family
were nice enough to make this successful. It takes me a little time to be calm
knowing that they’re very nice and easy to be with. The bad experience is that it’s
hard to build confidence especially that it’s my first time doing an assessment
about growth and development. It makes me anxious, and I am having doubts
about doing every activity. But, with the help of the family, things went well
accordingly. They helped me with the strength I need to conduct and I also
helped them through my knowledge and giving growth and development
teachings. The relationship was mutual and both parties with one another
coinciding to one goal.

IV. ANALYSIS
The reason why the plan was successful because each of the family
members were willing to correct their situation and inhibit possible growth and
development issue. Throughout the assessments, those theories helped me to
identify my clients growth and development. Such as Piaget's Theory of
Cognitive Development where I learned that the child is able to concentrate on
many aspects of a situation at the same time able to develop concrete cognitive
operations which indicates a normal development of my client that aged 7-11.
According to Piaget (2021), this period last around seven to eleven years of age,
and is characterized by the development of organized and rational thinking.

V. ACTION PLAN
If the problem arose again I will do the same thing of what I did to the
Mulato Family. If I feel anxious again, I am just going to remember what I did to
the Family of Mulato about how I successfully handle the situation. In the matter
of fact, because of that feeling I will be more motivated and confident on
socializing to other families that I am going to assess, and give them knowledge
about growth and development.
