II. INTRODUCTORY CONCEPT

Have you ever listened or viewed something that seemed too good to be
true? It is important to assess the reliability and validity of a source in order to be
credible. In the business world, any research material must have support that can
provide validity and reliability. Since arguments are so basic to the way we acquire
knowledge, develop understanding, make decisions and shape the world, it is crucial
to be able to tell good ones from bad ones—and understand what makes them that
way.

We can judge the validity of evidence listened to by answering the three

questions. First, is the evidence sufficient? Is there enough of it, or do you need
more to feel convinced? Second, is the evidence relevant? Is it really about the
point the author wants to prove, or did they go off on a tangent, providing facts that
don’t have anything to do with the point? Third, is the evidence representative? This
is the hardest one to understand, but also the most
important. Representative evidence is evidence that accurately represents the whole
topic, not just a select piece. Another word for representative is typical.

As 21st century learners, you are influenced by the global trends that greatly
affect you as an individual. Changes are inevitable which occur at a very fast pace.
Sometimes, you find yourself behind which somehow forces you to hasten.

This Learner’s Activity Sheet (LAS) will guide you to judge the validity of the
evidence you listened to/viewed that will support your argument. It will also help you
to make decisions about issues that have significant part in your daily life.

 Dr. Iahn Gonsenhauser at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center shares how important face masks
are in the effort to stay healthy as we enter a second wave of COVID-19.

Around the nation, we're seeing a resurgence
of the first wave of coronavirus,with numbers peeking
and breaking records in most states across the
country.As we've learned more about the virus,there's
clear support from a majority of Americans that wearing
a mask is the best tool that we have in combating this
virus,until we develop an effective vaccine.We've learned
that this virus is spread through exhalation during talking,
singing, exercising, laughing.
The best thing that we can do to prevent those
respiratory droplets from becoming airborne and
potentially infecting somebody around us is by putting on
a mask.We've become increasingly concerned about
asymptomatic transmission or the potential to spread the
virus when you don't even know that you have it.Even
something as simple as a basic cloth face covering can
reduce airborne respiratory droplets by approximately
50%,greatly reducing the possibility of spreading the
virus.Wearing a mask does provide some benefit and
protection to the wearer,but the greatest benefit is to the
community at large.If we can get to the point where eight
of 10 people in the community are wearing masks,we
can reduce the total number of cases,reduce
hospitalizations,and reduce the number of deaths from
COVID.Until we reach the point where an effective
vaccine has been widely disseminated in our
community,our best tools for combating coronavirus
remain,hand hygiene, social distancing,and of course,
wearing a mask in public whenever you can.Let's move
together with care not fear.

Every country has different values and spirits and of course our country the
Philippines has no exception.We Filipinos believe that
we have perhaps one of the best values in the world that
came from our ancestors and we made impacts and we
are still honoring them even up to this day.Filipinos are
not perfect but we have great characteristics and
qualities that.We Pinoy should be proud of.So here are
seven Filipino values we should be proud of .
Value number one is hospitality.One of the
most popular qualities of Filipinos is being
hospitable.Foreigners love this warm hospitality and not
just foreigners even us.Filipinos had held high with this
positive trait we had.
The next value is freedom and love of
country.Filipinos are freedom loving people, they can
sacrifice everything and just freedom snip.For them
freedom even less life is the state of meaninglessness.
For Filipinos it doesn't matter whether they are wounded
brutalized or Salvage as long as we can preserve our
freedom then we will fight for it in the name of our
country the Philippines.
The third value that we have is religion.
Filipinos in general are God centered and God
conscious.Religious cultures such as the Black
Nazarene Festus honoree of our bathrooms and carb
blessings and house blessings are just some of the acts
that we value religion so much.
The fourth value that we have is human labor
and work self-development.We Filipinos value this trait
so much because by working hard a person can attain
his desires and fulfill his dreams from our hard-working
OFWs,to our greatest and strongest laborers we salute
you.
The fifth value that we have is family.Asians
were naturally collectivist and us Filipinos are well known
for our family centeredness.Filipinos give so much value
to the family that they labor is so hard and sacrificed so
much for their family. The family that sauce goodness
rips fortune and the one that sauce evil rips suffering.
The sixth value we have is personal dignity.
For Filipinos personal dignity is the most important
wealth on earth.Worldly riches can be bought but once
cooked actor is lasting in priceless.To impost this valued
through difference of improvement and by showcasing
difference guts and talents that we can do everything as
a Filipino.
Last and definitely not the least.Number seven
value is human fellowship.In human fellowship Filipinos
are known to have good relationship with each
other.According to the ills of animals if you don't like the
person you should be ashamed or embarrassed.A man
finds himself a human being in relation to another human
being.So these are just some of the noticeable values we

 Because coronavirus threat still lingers, distance learning will be implemented for the upcoming school year. Find
out the various learning modalities for distance learning.
And because the coronavirus stress still
lingers,distance learning will be implemented for the
upcoming School Year 2020 to 2021.But what really
comprises distance learning.According to the education
department there are various learning modalities under
the distance learning one is online which uses
technology such as gadgets and access to the internet
and can be categorized as synchronous or
asynchronous.There is also the modular distance
learning wherein self-learning modules whether in print
or digital format will be given to students.Another is the
television and radio based instruction in which lessons
would be carried out through programs.The education
department says the type of learning modality to be used
in a locality will be based on the capacity and situation of
learners and teachers .DepEd Usec,Diosdado San
Antonio said that “Ang unang naririnig naming,pano nga
naman matututo?eh wala kaming gadget.Well,sa bawat
sitwasyon ng bata meron tayong inihahaing angkop na
paraan ng pag-aaral at pagkatuto.
Earlier today we visited Lagro High School in
Quezon City to see how they are gearing up for the
distance learning.Its Principal Maria Noemi Moncada
said they are not new to the distance learning approach
as they have been doing this when classes are
suspended .She also said, “Ready naman sila eh kasi
ang mga teachers.Ngayon,meron talagang di maaalis na
malapit ng magretired. Hindi na natin pinipilit yan.Sila na
ngayon ang magmomodular at voluntary naman”. The
school principal added that as of today around students
have enrolled for School Year 2020 to 2021. Eighty
percent opted the online learning approach while 20
percent chose the modular learning.Now the teachers in
Nagro High School attend various webinars and trainings
and simulation of classes through a summer
camp.Dennis Angeles,Focal Person,SHS Academic
Track,Lagro High School said, “ Sa school po ay ayos
ang magkakasama ang pumili ng online at ang pumili ng
module.So magkakasama sila sa isang section,ang mga
modules at magkakasama naman ang online”.Here
school teachers will use the school's computer
laboratories for the distance learning modality.
However, this would be a huge challenge for
the technical vocation livelihoods trend as it requires
hands-on training.Good thing electronic products
assembly and servicing teacher Raymond Cruz has
found a free website wherein students can design and
construct models.As of now,Raymond has 22 students
enrolled in the simulation of the course.He said, “Pwede
ng magsimula ng electronic devices na mag-aasemble
on your own.Kung hindi na po nila mai-experience ang
physical na assemble pero mai-experience po nila ang
individual assembly”.
Meanwhile, for the modular learning the
school principal said advisers will upload lessons for
each week for digital learning while there will be
schedules for parents and guardians of learners to pick
up the printed modules.Teachers who volunteered for
the modular learning will visit students from time to time
to ensure learning competencies.Lagro High School is
set to receive tablets from the Quezon City government.
