This document discusses planning for essays and presentations. It emphasizes that writing requires organization, and outlines two important components - the thesis statement and outline. The thesis statement is the overall argument presented in a declarative sentence with at least three supporting points. Meanwhile, the outline logically arranges these supporting points using traditional roman numerals and letters or a standard numbering system. Together, the thesis statement and outline provide essential organization for effective writing.
