Last Week: We learned about numerous
October holidays last week. We celebrated
“national taco day”, “national walk and bike
to school day” and “hispanic heritage
month”. We had a “S’more” themed fun
Friday including making s’more-krispies,
reading about camping and enjoying
flashlight friday. We did a science
experiment about bird beaks that
correlated with our new Unique unit on
ecosystems and adaptations.
This Week: We are excited to start a
thematic unit on SPIDERS! We will read
various fiction and nonfiction books about
spiders, create our own egg sacs, cook up
some “spider treats” and identify the
importance of spiders in their ecosystem.
We will continue to introduce our monthly
Unique unit on ecosystems and tie in our
spiders unit. We will discuss “Indigenous
Peoples’ Day” on Monday and continue to
work on IEP goals during small group
instruction.

Cooking in the Classroom

This week we will be making “spider treats” which include:
vanilla wafers, icing, pretzel sticks and chocolate chips
If your student has dietary restrictions, specific to these ingredients, please coordinate
with Ms. Simpson before Friday. We are happy to supply your student with an alternative.

Semana pasada: la semana pasada nos
enteramos de las numerosas vacaciones de
octubre. Celebramos el “día nacional del taco”, el
“día nacional de caminar y andar en bicicleta a la
escuela” y el “mes de la herencia hispana”.
Tuvimos un viernes divertido con el tema
"S'more" que incluyó hacer s'more-krispies, leer
sobre acampar y disfrutar del viernes con
linterna. Hicimos un experimento científico sobre
picos de aves que se correlacionó con nuestra
nueva unidad Unique sobre ecosistemas y
adaptaciones.
Esta semana: ¡Estamos emocionados de
comenzar una unidad temática sobre SPIDERS!
Leeremos varios libros de ficción y no ficción
sobre arañas, crearemos nuestros propios sacos
de huevos, cocinaremos algunas “golosinas para
arañas” e identificamos la importancia de las
arañas en su ecosistema. Continuaremos
presentando nuestra unidad única mensual
sobre ecosistemas y ataremos nuestra unidad de
arañas. Discutiremos el “Día de los Pueblos
Indígenas” el lunes y continuaremos trabajando
en las metas del IEP durante la instrucción en
grupos pequeños.

Cocinar en el Aula
Esta semana haremos "golosinas para arañas" que incluyen:
obleas de vainilla, glaseado, palitos de pretzel y chispas de chocolate
Si su estudiante tiene restricciones dietéticas específicas para estos ingredientes, coordinate con
la Sra. Simpson antes del viernes. Nos complace brindar a su estudiante una alternativa.
