ACTIVITY 4: IDENTIFYING APPROPRIATE QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH DESIGN

(scaffold no. 1)(pages 105-106)

TITLE: The Struggles and Coping Mechanisms of the JHS Students with OFW Parents in Saint Francis
Academy

QUALITATIVE RESEARCH DESIGN: Descriptive Research Design

JUSTIFICATION: The researchers used the descriptive research design. Descriptive research design
aims to observe and report on a certain phenomenon, type of behavior or trait that is taking place in the
study. The researchers used this kind of research design since their study involved determining the
struggles of their respondents having OFW parents and to look into their coping mechanisms.
Furthermore, the researchers made use of the method of interviewing so that they can observe the way
their respondents behaves when they were gathering an in-dept information of their respondents
thoughts, feelings and experiences of having an OFW parents.

ACTIVITY 7: LET’S APPLY (page 113) (scaffold no. 2)

A Identify the sample size and the sampling method that you will use for your own research.
Explain how you will determine your sample size, and justify your choice of sampling method
for your study.

The size of the target population is 50%. Half

method because the participants were
