RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This portion expound the way of how the study is conducted. Particularly, it talks

about the research design, the research locale, the participants, the research

instruments, the data gathering procedure, and the data analysis.

Research Design

This study is a Qualitative in nature and will use the unstructured interview

approach observe the students who face adversities when writing an English Essay.

Furthermore, it will be done through face-to-face interaction between the researcher and

participants in Asian Learning Center Pajo Campus.

Research Locale

This research will be conducted in the Pajo Campus of Asian Learning Center

(ALC). The school was founded on 1991and it has four branches: Main, Pajac, Punta

Rizal, and Pajo Branches. The Main Branch is located at Lopez Jaena St., Corner Dela

Serna St., Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City. The Pajac branch is located in Pajac Street,

Lapu-Lapu, City Cebu. A new branch is located at Punta Rizal, Upper floor of A. Geson

Building, Opon LLC, for the Grade XI GAS and ABM Strand. The last branch is located

at Opon-Airport-Sangi Rd., Lapu-Lapu City, 6015, Cebu.

The school has grown with a vision to develop students as whole persons, a

vision for education should focus on nurturing their intellectual, emotional, social, and
physical well-being. It should aim to develop their knowledge, critical thinking skills,

creativity, empathy, resilience, and ethical values.

Participants

The participants for this study are the grade 11 students in HUMSS Department

here in Asian Learning Center, S.Y. 2023-2024, which are comprise of 25 girl students

and 25 boy students in afternoon session. Therefore, the total of respondents is 50.

Research Instrument

In this study, an unstructured interview that will be done in face-to-face talk is

used as a data collection instrument. The mistake that the students have made in

writing an essay will be in our question for those students who will become as the

participants in this research. The questions were formed on the spot but it is according
to the students mistake in doing an English Essay. Moreover, this study utilized the

convenience sampling technique. Furthermore, these techniques were done by

selecting 50 students from HUMSS strand afternoon session, ensuring representation

from both genders. Consent was obtained from the participants, and their identities

were kept confidential throughout the study to maintain ethical standard.

Data Gathering Procedure

The research will give valuable data that will help to learn the answer of the

research questions. The on the spot questions about the students adversities in writing

an English Essay will be conducted through face to face interaction between researcher

and participants. Moreover, we have clustered the group into three to asked the

participant in this study so it will not cost lot of time. In addition, there should be a total

of not less than 50 question that will be recorded from the respondents to be used in

analyzing and processing the results. In this study, we are hoping that the participants

answer the question honestly.

Data Analysis

Qualitative data analysis is used to analyze the gathered data of this study, in

order to determine the mistake made by students in writing an English Essay. This study

uses unstructured interview which consist of questions that will be given for the

participants, the responses from the respondents will be comprehensively examine.
