1. Use fresh or thawed frozen milk in original container


2. Allow milk to sit undisturbed in the refrigerator until the fat rises to the top.
The time required for this will vary. Previously frozen milk may already be separated and can be pro essed as soon
as it thaws
3. Obtain nasogastric tube, 60 ml syringe, and clean empty container
4. Attach syringe to nasogastric (NG) tube
5. Carefully place the tip of the NG tube down into the bottom of the milk container and pull back on the syringe to
obtain the skim milk, leaving the fat in the container
6. Transfer the skim milk from the syringe into the empty container
7. Repeat process as necessaryto ensure complete fat removal
