LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 8

Tuesday November 06, 2018

Grade 8 – Sampaguita 7:40-8:40
Adelfa 10:00-11:00
Anthurium 11:00-12:00

I. OBJECTIVE
Learning Competency:
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
2. Explain physical changes in terms of the arrangement and motion of
atoms and molecules
Subtask:
Describe what happens to the particles of water when it is left in an open
container and in a closed container.
Describe what happens to the particles of water when it is heated and then
cooled.
Values Integration:

Compliment the application of chemistry in the industry.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic : The Particle Nature of Matter
GAD Integration: Valuing a sense of respect to all genders and promoting a
positive classroom environment for a much better learning.

III. LEARNING RESOURCES

A. References:
o K to 12 CG Code: S8MT-IIIc-d-9
B. Materials
o Laboratory apparatuses, chalk and board

IV. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary activities
1. Drill
o What are the two types of changes in matter?
o What is the difference between physical change and chemical change?
o Cite a scenario depicting the two types of changes.

2. Unlocking of Difficulties
o Particles
o Present the different laboratory apparatuses and let the learners name it:
- Watch glass, Beaker, Erlenmeyer flask, Tripod, Wire gauze, Alcohol
lamp, Petri dish.

B. ELICIT
o Project pictures or illustration to the class.
o What did you observe?
C. ENGAGE
o The learners will conduct an experiment on what changes takes place when water
is left in an open container and in a closed container. Write your observation on
your answer sheet.

D. EXPLORE
o The learners will conduct another experiment on what changes when water is
heated or cooled. Write your observation on your answer sheet.

E. EXPLAIN
o The teacher further explains the concepts.

F. ELABORATE
o The learners will answer the guide questions with regards to their experiments.
Explain briefly.

G. EVALUATE
Multiple Choice.
DIRECTIONS: Read the statement carefully and describe what is being asked.
Write it in a ¼ sheet of paper.
____1. The process wherein a liquid is changed into gas.
a. evaporation c. freezing
b. melting d. condensation
____2. The reverse of evaporation.
a. evaporation c. freezing
b. melting d. condensation
____3. A term for molecule that escape from the liquid and go into the gaseous phase.
a. liquid c. vapor
b. solid d. gas
____4. Based from your experiments, describe what happened to the water in a closed
container after keeping it overnight.
a. no more water left c. very small amount left
b. no changes d. none of the above
____5. If you keep the water from boiling, what do you think will happen to the amount
of water in the beaker?
a. increase c. no changes
b. decrease d. all of the above

H. EXTEND
List at least five laboratory materials/apparatuses and its use.
Please bring the following materials:
