Section and Time: 8- Integrity 7:45 – 8:45 /8- Simplicity 1:00 – 2:00 /8-Patience 3:00- 4:00 Date:

Learning Explain physical changes in terms of the arrangement and motion of atoms Level 8
Competency and molecules.
(S8MT-111c-d-9) Quarter 3

Learning Describe what happens when water is left in an open container/ closed Week 3
Objectives container. No.
Perform the activity correctly. Day 1&2

Show cooperation with the group mates in performing the activity.

Topic Changes of Matter Duration: 60
(What changes take place when water is left in an open container and in a mins
closed container)
Resources Needed References: LM Science 8 pp. 182- 184
Materials: Water, 2 glasses and plastic cover

PROCEDURE:
Element of
Suggested Activities
the Plan
Awareness Recall the features of the Particle model of matter.
What are the States of matter?
Can we change solid to liquid or vice versa? How?
Let us try to see in our activity today.
Activity Check the materials brought by the students by group.
Students do the activity (found in pp. 182- 184 of Science 8 LM ).
A. Pre-laboratory discussion
-Discuss the objectives and procedures.
- Discuss the safety precautionary measures.
B. Laboratory proper
- Students perform the activity.
- Students answer the guide questions.
C. Post lab discussion
-Discuss the results of the activity.
- Checked the answers of the students.

Analysis -What happen to the water in an open container? Why? Where did the water go?
-What happen to the water in a closed container? Why? Where did the water go?
-What do you call that process?
-How would you describe the arrangement of particles when liquid water is changed into
water vapor?
- How is the kinetic energy related to the motion of the particles?
Abstraction Evaporation is the process by which the molecules on the surface of a liquid break away and
change into gas.
Condensation is the process where gas is changed into liquid.
Application - Explain the concepts in the drying of washed clothes.
- Solicit other examples of evaporation and condensation from students.

Assessment 1. What happen to the particles of liquid water when it changed into gas?
2. What happen to the particles of gaseous water when it changed into liquid?
3. What do you call the process of changing liquid into gas in room temperature?
4. What do you call the process of changing gas into liquid?
