TRANSDUCERS
 A device which converts 1 form of energy into
another.
 In a process industry 4 basic and very important
parameters to be measured and controlled are:
1) Flow
2) Temperature
3) Pressure
4) Level
FLOW MEASUREMENT
TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT

•Thermocouple
•Thermistor
•RTD
•Bimetallic Thermostat
•Pyrometers
COMPARISION OF DIFFERENT
TYPES OF TEMPERATURE
SENSORS
PRESSURE MEASUREMENT
 Manometric Method

 Elastic Pressure Transducers

1) Bourdon Tube
2) Bellows
3) Diaphragms
4) Capsule

 Electric Pressure Transducers

1) Capacitive e.g. D.P. Cell
2) Inductive e.g. LVDT
PRESSURE GAUGE
 Generally named as Pressure gauges
or Vacuum gauges.

Absolute pressure is zero-referenced

against a perfect vacuum, so it is equal to
gauge pressure plus atmospheric
pressure.
Gauge pressure is zero-referenced
against ambient air pressure, so it is equal
to absolute pressure minus atmospheric
pressure.
Differential pressure is the difference in
pressure between two points
