Crossover Network Cabling

Objectives

 To identify tools and materials needed

 To know the wire color sequences in Crossover Network Cabling
 To learn how the Crossover Network Cabling works.

Materials

UTP Cable- is a type of wiring cable with wires that are twisted together to reduce noise and crosstalk.
The noise are generated when two wires are parallel which causes an increase level of voltage.

Crimping tool- use to conjoin two pieces of metal by deforming one or both of them in a way that cause
them to hold each other.

Cable tester- use to verify the electrical connection in signal cable or other wired assembly

RJ45- is a type of cable connector which is mainly used in computer network for Ethernet networking
which is use to connect different type of devices like switch, hub etc.

Procedure

1. Prepare all the needed tools and equipment. Make sure you observe cleanliness in your table before,
during and after doing Crossover Network Cabling.

2. The first thing you have to do is to strip he outside cover of the UTP cable

3. Arrange the wires depending on the color sequence of Crossover Network Cabling A (wg,G, wo,Bl,
wblO, wbr,Br).

4. Cut all the wires into equal sizes, make sure that it is exact to the size of RJ45

5. Put and insert the UTP cable wires to the RJ45. Keep all the wires into it's proper color sequence.

6. Insert it tightly until the wires will go at the end of RJ45

7. Use crimping tool to crimp it tightly. Be sure that you check the sequence of colored wires before you

crimp it.

8. Do it again to another end of UTP cable using the color sequence of B (wo,O, wg,Bl, wbl,G, wbr,Br).

10.Then Crimp it. Make sure that you tightly crimp both side of UTP cable or the RJ45. Then test it using
Cable tester.

Observation

The first thing that I noticed and learned in this activity is you have to make sure that you crimp the RJ45
tightly, because it may cause error if it is not properly crimp. The sequencing of colored wired is more

important also. The tendency is to have some problems and may cause failing of your Crossover
Network Cabling. The challenging for me is the organization of wires and cutting of it. Well all in all, in
this activity it will test your patience and effort to do it correctly.

Generalization

This activity opens up an idea that we can use in other subsequent activities. At this point, I just want to
say that It is not that simple to do Especially with beginners and those who are just now able to see such
materials. Based on what I have observed, There is a big impact on making cross over cabilng when you
sweat your hands. Also, check to see if the rj45 insertion into the crimping tool is correct when you
insert it into the incorrect placement, it may cause rj45 breakage. All in all, it is better that you have
enough work knowledge before you work alone.
