GEEC 105- SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIETY

1st SEMESTER, SY 2021-2022

MODULE 1 : LESSON 4 : LEARNING ACTIVITY

1.) Trace the development of science and technology from pre- colonial times up to present. What have
you observed?

- I've noticed that early inventions are simply the forerunners of modern inventions. The devices we have
now are extremely advanced and assist individuals in their daily routines. Because the technologies and
devices we have now are upgraded versions of those we had before the pre-colonial period, people's job
became more straightforward as time passed. Furthermore, the things that emerged in the early years are
the reasons why modern discoveries are conceivable.

2.) What do you think are the major contributions of science and technology to Philippine nation-
building?

- Science and technology have made significant contributions to Philippine nation-building as a result of
the country's socioeconomic prosperity and industrialization. Our country's capacity to generate local
commodities for domestic needs, as well as worldwide scientific research publications, is currently at an
all-time low.

3.) What specific government policy do you like the most in terms of contributing to the development of
science and technology in the Philippines.?

- REPUBLIC ACT NO. 2067 AN ACT TO PROMOTE SCIENTIFIC, ENGINEERING, AND

TECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH, INVENTION, AND DEVELOPMENT is the specific government
policy that I enjoy the most. Because of this philosophy, our scientists are encouraged to innovate in
technological advancement for the benefit of the general public.

4.) What do you think are the major contributions of the Philippines to the field at present.?

- It is the implementation of such laws or government policies that have been in place since then. Science
and Technology will continue to improve their understanding and take better care of the subject in the
future.

5.) What policies that you want the government to implement in the near future.?

- As we all know discrimination is everywhere, with gender, race, skin color, religion and also political
beliefs. Some person are oftenly discriminated with his/ her gender, race, skin color, religion and political
beliefs. We are all born the same way: as humans, and therefore deserve the same rights and acceptance
as long as we all follow the laws and comply with the norms set to
protect all individuals. But throughout history certain groups of people have faced discrimination,
segregation, and injustice because they are of a specific race, skin color and/or culture that some of us
consider to be part of a lower category of human beings, as well as the fact of holding different beliefs
and ideals along with preferences when it comes to things such as gender and choice of lifestyle. As a part
of the LGBTQIA+ Community I want to see a country where discrimination has no place that people can
express themselves freely. So to start this I would implement equality for all, regardless of what gender,
race, religion, and political beliefs you have. We are all equally created by God so instead of
discriminating, let us all embrace one another to make a diverse and inclusive country. Furthermore, we
can also have unity and peace to make a better place to live in.
