1. How did the participants/dancers apply the elements of lines and colors in their
costumes?

They apply it by dancing gracefully and show to the audience the colorfulness and the
brightness of their costumes.

2. What effect do the patterns of their motif have?

The effect of it is seamless and beautiful and pattern of their motif becomes unique and
bright.

3. What feeling do you get from looking at the mixtures and harmonies of lines, colors, and
shapes in their attires and accessories?

My feeling from looking at it are mix, the mix feelings are uncertain and disappointment.

4. What are your thoughts about the costume designs? Justify.

My thoughts about it are mix like I say in number 4, uncertain and disappointment because
some of the festival colors and shapes are the same I thought it will be unique and
surprising, but some of the costume design are unique, beautiful, and elegant, but am not
saying that some of the designs are ugly, its just the shapes and the color of it.

1. Moriones Festival- It become a religious festival because we want to honor God’s


sacrifice for us and it become a religious festival. Morioin means “mask” or a “visor.” It is
part of the medieval Roman armor which covers the face. Moriones refers to the mask
and costumes penitents that march around the town for seven days from Holy Monday
to Easter Sunday.
2. Flores de Mayo- Every month of May, Catholics and Aglipays celebrate this religious
festival called Flores de Mayo (Spanish for “Flowers of May”). Lasting for a month, it is
held to honor of the Virgin Mary.
3. Ati-atihan- It is an annual feast held every January in honor of the Santo Nino (Infant
Jesus). It concludes on the third Sunday in the island and town of Kalibo, Aklan. The
festival is accompanied by indigenous tribal costumes and weapons, music, and dances.
They parade along the streets.

Their different art styles are unique and colorful, in Ati-atihan art style its very colorful and
the headpiece of it is very detailed and big. In Flores de Mayo art style its very pleasing and
elegant the gowns and the arches are beautiful decorated. In Moriones art style its very
religious because the masks replicating the array of biblical Roman soldiers as how the
locals interpret them.

2. Should the art of festivity be part of religion? Why?

Yes. Because it’s our culture and tradition and we should give respect to it. Together with,
we can thank the originator and the saints who provides and help us in time of need.
