Title/ Topic
Teenage pregnancy: the impact of maternal adolescent childbearing and older sister’s teenage
pregnancy on a younger sister

Research Findings
Teenage pregnancy has been a rampant problem for more than decades. It has not only
cause a great deal of health risks towards the mother and the child, but is one of the many
reasons why poverty is still present to this very day despite the fact that many officials have
tried to combat it for many years. In addition, teenage mothers also bear more burden before,
during and after pregnancy. In addition, teenage mother have a higher risk of lower educational
attainment due to dropping out of school or not being able to sustain both child needs and
educational needs. With lower educational attainment, lower income to no income at all is
usually the result.
However, in teenage pregnancy, their will always be a sense of "influence" towards the
teenage mother and her environment. In this study, it shows how the influence of an older
sister who has become a teenage mother creates a greater impact towards the younger sister.
Resulting her to following her older sister's footsteps--- becoming a teenage mother as well. It
will oil boil down to influence in pressure for teenagers normally would put an older individual
on a pedestal and idolize them. Due to both social risk and social impact, mothers and elder
sisters are the primary sources of family influence on adolescent pregnancy. Family members
affect a person's views and values about teen pregnancy, as well as sharing socioeconomic
hazards (such as poverty, ethnicity, and a lack of opportunity) that influence the chance of
teenage pregnancy. Having an older sister who was a teen mother increased the younger
sister's chance of being a teen mother, and daughters of teenage moms were substantially
more likely to become teenage mothers themselves.
Many factors, including a family history of adolescent pregnancy, are connected to the
risk of teenage pregnancy. This study investigates whether adolescent pregnancy is more
strongly predicted by a mother's teenage childbearing or by an older sister's teenage pregnancy.
With that the adjusted chances of getting pregnant between the ages of 14 and 19 were 3.38
(99 percent CI 2.77–4.13) times greater for teenagers with at least one older sister who had a
teenage pregnancy than for women whose older sister(s) did not have a teenage pregnancy.
Teenage daughters of moms who had their first kid before the age of 20 had 1.57 times the
chance of becoming pregnant than those whose mothers had their first child after the age of 19.
In a sub-population assessing the chances of conception between the ages of 16 and 19,
educational performance was taken into account. The chances of teenage pregnancy for
teenagers with at least one older sister who had a teenage pregnancy were lowered to 2.48 (99
percent CI 2.01–3.06) after this adjustment, while the odds of pregnancy for teen daughters of
teenage moms were decreased to 1.39 (99 percent CI 1.15–1.68).

Conclusion
The connection between a more established sister's high school pregnancy and a more
youthful sister's teen pregnancy is significantly more grounded than the connection between a
mother's juvenile childbearing and a more youthful girl's young pregnancy, notwithstanding the
way that both are significant. This examination serves to a superior comprehension of the more
extensive issue of "who impacts what in the family." Contrary to popular belief, impact and
influence will always play a great deal in a teenagers life. Social influence and pressure may
seems ridiculous to some, but it is actually the reason why teenagers usually dive into situations
they are not completely prepared for and do not necessarily know or understand the gravity of
its consequences.
Analysis
With all that being said, teenage pregnancy is deemed as a health risk as well for a
teenage body is not matured enough to handle the rapid growth of an child growing inside
them. In addition, it is one of the various reason why poverty is rapidly increasing annually.
Hence, because of poverty, most of them will not be able to tend for their health needs for
their main priority is putting food on the table. This is where community health nursing comes
into the picture.
You see, community health nursing is a branch of nursing where they will not only
prevent illnesses and promote health, but it is a metaphorical way of nurses extending their
hearts and hands to those people who are scarce. In addition, teenage pregnancy is deemed to
be a problem that nurses study in order to derive a care plan that will not only save the
premature mother, but also her baby. It allows nurses to give these premature mothers and her
baby a chance of a healthy life despite the risks.
