PREFACE
This module aims to train students to develop intermediate conversational skills using Asian language.
Student should be able to understand technical jargon used in the hospitality industry. Produce the
consonant and vowel sounds of Mandarin Chinese, Read and write using Pīnyīn, Write Chinese
characters using the correct stroke order, construct simple Chinese sentences using the correct
grammar, Use Chinese phrases in communicative situations and lastly, appreciate Chinese language
and culture.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

The author, Mr. Peter Daniel Z. Diaz a Licensed Professional Teacher is a temporary faculty member
of Cavite State University Naic under Management Department. He is designated as Kitchen
Laboratory Custodian and currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Eulogio “Amang” Rodrigues
Institute of Science and Technology Manila under College of Hospitality Management with the course
of Master of Art in Industrial Education Major in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Presently, he
teaches Hospitality Management major subjects like Asian Language (Mandarin), Philippine Tourism
Geography and Culture, Applied Business Tools and Technologies (GDS), and many more.

COMPUTER TERMS
(TERMINOLOGIES)

What are the most frequent words I'm likely to encounter when using a computer in Chinese.
Stuff like file menu, cut, copy, paste, edit, properties, ok, cancel, back, refresh, save, print etc... Just
want to learn a few so I don't get lost every time I have to use a Chinese computer.

Objectives:

• To help to improve the vocabulary skills


• To know information
• To aim the outcomes in advance of each words and terms
Instruction to learners:

1. The learner must read with comprehension the objectives of the module and the lesson proper
to enable to answer the given tasks at the end of the unit.
2. But before moving to the body of the lessons, the learner must try to answer the given pre-
test or activity to measure the amount of learning of the student in a specific subject also to
activate the prior knowledge that the student has.
3. And then, upon reading and exploring the lesson proper, make some effort to search the
unfamiliar words that you will encounter in this module.
4. In some parts of the unit, you will meet web links and it’ll help you for better understandings
for the lesson.
5. Your answers to the pre-test/activity and post-test/activity should be submitted on or before
October 30, 2021.
