• Normal distribution
○ Symmetric bell shape with one peak (unimodal)
○ Mean, median, mode are all equal to each other
○ Described by mean and SD
○ Changing mean = changing center of distribution

narrow)
○ Area under curve is equal to 1 (or 100%)
○ If we know it is normal, we can use the empirical rule

• Standard score
○ Usually called a Z-score
○ How many SDs does that value fall from the average
○ Can be positive or negative

• R value tells you if line is positive or negative and is more accurate if


closer to 1
• Comment on form, direction, and strength if given a scatter plot and
then asked to describe it
