Career planning describes how you will go from where you are now to your ultimate
career goal. You'll be able to determine which steps you need to do to get there if you have an
end goal in mind. It is important to identify your strengths and understand how your abilities,
talents, values, and interests translate into potential professions. As a child, I knew what I wanted
to be. I always dream of becoming a Civil Engineer. I love to draw and to solve problems. I’m
very fascinated with tall buildings, infrastructure, big houses, whenever I see them, it makes me
want to create one. Whenever my aunties were studying for their upcoming exams, I always
joined them and asked questions about how to solve a problem; they are also civil engineers, too.
I always admire people who have worked in construction and civil engineering because I know
how difficult their job is. That’s the very reason why I chose this program. In duration of my
studies, I learned a lot and most especially, I’m happy with what I am doing. I enjoyed making
plans, solving problems, and enhancing my critical thinking skills and perseverance. My
program taught me how to enhance my skills and knowledge, and shape me how to become
from this institution, I will take with me all the learnings that TIP taught me 10 years from now I
see myself working in the structural engineering or water resources field in Canada or New
Zealand as planned. I know in myself that I can do more. I can be whatever I want to be.
yourself. Professionals are always flexible and can easily adapt to change. They have their own
way to cope up in what changes might arise. As they always say, being a professional is how you
do the job, not the job you do. It is how you perform your very best to impress and motivate
people. It is you, being committed to the job and responsibilities that were given to you. Also, it
is important to show respect to everyone no matter what it takes, because how will you earn their
respect if you yourself don’t know how to respect? It is easy as that. You have to set a good
example to others. Being professional is having integrity, it is being honest or more likely
staying true to your personal beliefs. You must know that you have to be honest first to yourself
performance and attitude towards other people in the workplace. It plays a vital role when
it comes to your reputation. It is like a clothing brand that you wear that defines you.
Your professional image is like a reflection how people see you and think about your
performance. For example, in the work place, you’re always late and unorganized. You
are not responsible enough to perform. You have to understand that people will see you
based on what they saw. People will think of you based on your actions. You must
become a professional always, the way you talk, the way you dress, the way you treat
other people, same goes in the work place. You have to show them what you can actually
give to your company. That you are a valuable and a persistent employee.
