(a) Explain TWO (2) facts of why an engineer must strictly comply with the statement,
“Every registered Engineer shall at all times uphold the dignity, high standing and
reputation of his profession.” stated in the code of professional conduct.
[10 marks]

(b) Mr. Alisan works as a technologist at a subsidiary company that supplies electronic
components and other parts for ABC Sdn. Bhd. The division where Mr. Alisan works
is responsible for carrying out production performance on battery parts to ensure that
they meet the requirements and allowable tolerances specified by ABC Sdn. Bhd. While
testing some finished goods from production line, Mr. Alisan notices that majority of
the battery samples lack the required performance benchmarks due to some production
process fault. It may harm the user if being used in certain conditions. Mr. Alisan brings
the test results to the attention of the management team. After reviewing the test results,
the management tells Mr. Alisan that this particular defective part is truly undetectable
and the flaw won’t affect the overall performance of the electronic system as some of
the other component parts have already passed the compliance tests. The management
decides to withhold this information and offers recall policy once the flaw has been
corrected.

Analyze the situation by;

i. Clarifying the issues involved.
