Jerome was born in a digital native family and became addicted to gaming at a young age, causing him to skip meals and have poor grades. His parents restricted gaming access, improving his grades. As an introvert, Jerome was shy speaking publicly but overcame fears by forcing himself out of his comfort zone. He chose pharmacy to further challenge himself, hoping to improve weaknesses, and follow his mother's medical career path. While pharmacy may not be his ideal course, Jerome remains optimistic that God will guide his life path.

I was a digital native wherein I was born and raised being
familiar with digital technologies such as computers and gadgets where me and my brother were used to play games in a very young age, however due to excessive gaming we once became addicted to it that we had to skip meals just to have more time for playing and gaming. At this time, our parents were strictly restricted us from this habit by putting away those gadgets and computers since we we’re getting out of control and my grades in school in kinder and grade 1 were severely affected, and then from grade 2 and so on, my grades improved that I even become an honor student at least once in my elementary and high school days. These are the times that I become aware that being digital native are more prone to addiction that can ruin someone’s life. But there are times that being digital native has some benefits or advantages to me such as I think it improves my problem solving or math skills because when I was in my elementary days, I noticed that I score high in math exams and I like learning math naturally without forcing myself to do it. I also was an introvert person in which I tend to be myself alone most of the time and being with other people and socializing with them is what I fear the most especially when I’m going to socialize to an unfamiliar or stranger person. I may be shy most of the time but thankfully I have some close friends to talk to that I can express myself comfortably. However, having this personality had once affect my performance in school in instances like I look very awkward, shy and nervous when speaking in front of a class. I once tried to overcome this by forcing myself to do things that I fear such as talking to strangers and eventually some ended up good however some are bad that I felt embarrassed. But after all those years, I realized that may not excel in this aspect but I still managed to survive those nerve-wracking moments in my life and hoping that I will improve more someday. I chose pharmacy because I think I will improve more in this profession overall since my weaknesses are being highlighted in this profession so I think it’s better for me to try something that’s outside of my comfort zone. Moreover, my mother also wants me to take this course to follow her footsteps in taking medical courses since my mother is a nurse for a very long time. This program or course may not be the best course for me, it may not be my most desirable course but I’m optimistic that God has plans for me and guiding me for the right path of my life. To summarize, I’m just an ordinary and simple person who faced and overcame a lot of challenges and obstacles in life. In this time of pandemic, I am grateful that my family is in good health and I hope that everything comes back to normal. Currently, I am 19 years old living peacefully here at Calaca, Batangas where we used to live. Jerome I. De Los Reyes BS Pharmacy Student STORY OF MY LIFE
