RECRUITMENT DRIVE AND TOTAL DEFENCE DAY

For recruitment drive, the Sec 2’s also put in effort into the recruitment drive at the start of the year,
despite having only 6 members. The Sec 2’s, being the first batch to join GB has done an excellent job in
doubling the company size. The sec 2’s not only managed to think of the fun activities that the sec 1’s
could do, but also engage them in the various types of games that we shared with the BB boys. All in all, I
think that the Sec 1’s enjoyed the games a lot and that they look forward to being in GB.

For Total Defence Day, our Sec 2 GB girls have put in tremendous effort into teaching the sec 1’s from all
the classes about the importance of Total Defence. Not only that, the Sec 2’s also designed an interesting
kahoot quiz for the sec 1’s, which i’m sure all of them enjoyed very much. The girls also prepared prizes
for the top 3 winners in the kahoot quiz, encouraging the sec 1’s to participate more actively in the quiz.
MARCH CAMP

For the March Camp, All sec1s and sec2s got to bond with each other more closely and understand each
other better. We started the day off with singspiration where we got to sing various songs in which our
ma’am had introduced us to. Next, we had a uniform lesson, in which the sec1s got their uniforms and
tried it for the very first time! The Sec 2’s were enthusiastically helping the newly recruited Sec 1’s with
their uniform and the sec 1’s were excited to try on their uniforms for the very first time. I would say, the
Sec 1’s look smart in their uniforms!

After we had a lesson on how to put on our uniforms, we had an outdoor cooking session in which we
were briefed about the safety precautions. We were separated into 4 different groups because of the
covid 19’s safe distancing measurements situation, in which we had different leaders in each team,
being tasked with different responsibilities. I’m sure that all the responsible squad leaders left their
squad members in awe upon showing them their amazing cooking skills that they have acquired
throughout the years in GB. I’m sure all of us enjoyed the outdoor cooking as it was a brand new
experience!

Next, we moved on to the next part of the day where we played games such as hide and seek, toilet
queen and much more with one another. The Sec 2s were given the opportunity to step up to plan and
lead the sec 1s in the games section for one hour. I think that all of us did a really great job in the
planning and organisation of the whole programme. The sec 1’s seem to enjoy it a lot and had a satisfied
look on their faces.
REFLECTIONS OF SEC 1 AND 2S

Here are some of the responses and reflections we gathered from the sec1s and 2s!!!

“ I used to think that GB was all about marching and never about doing any interesting
things, however, upon joining GB, I saw this CCA in a new light and figured that it was more
fun than I had thought.”

“ Teamwork makes the dream work! i think that us sec2s did a great job in
planning out activities for the very first time! ’’

“ I think the Sec 2’s did a great job in helping the Sec 1’s in the settling in of their new CCA”

‘’So far, I feel that this CCA has been quite enjoyable with all the fun activities we have done such as
outdoor cooking, indoor games and many more. I have learnt how to do some basic marching skills
although I am not very good at it yet. However, I hope to learn to be a better leader of myself in this
Girls Brigade.’’

To me, gb has been fun so far I’m grateful for the seniors and teachers that helped me in my drills and
making the cca more enjoyable Ma’am also helped me and my group to get to know each other more I
really hope I get to serve gb one day
