1. Other than the cities mentioned, on the left column, list ten global cities and the right column identify
reasons why they are considered as global cities.

AS GLOBAL CITIES
1. Seoul Seoul is the world’s most wired city and
ranked first in technology readiness. A
world leading technology hub centered on
Gangnam and Digital Media City. Over 10
million international visitors in 2014,
making it the world’s 9th most visited city
and 4th largest earner in tourism and 4th
largest metropolitan economy with a GDP
of US$845.9 billion in 2014.

2. Barcelona Ranked one of the world’s top “smart


cities”, having long placed a great
importance on urban technological
innovation. The economy also gets a
boost from its reputation as a startup hub,
also the 2nd largest trade fair and
exhibition center in Europe at its disposal.
Plus, the city is also a bustling center for
tourism, art, fashion, architecture, sports,
science, media, and culture and its
influence across the globe in these areas
and others has lead it to become one of
the world’s major global cities.

3. San Francisco Ranked number one as the top global


city for future proofing, the strongest
short-term socioeconomic and
commercial real estate momentum and a
future-proofing capacity for longer-term
success. The presence of Silicon Valley
has made the city a world capital for the
creative and tech industries.
4. Dubai Dubai International Airport which flies to
more than 284 destinations. Additionally
the city has hundreds of luxurious hotels,
restaurants, apartments, metros, and
investment centers that really marks it as
a global city. The city’s infrastructure is
solid, and is expanding as communities
grow.

5. Chicago Has successfully evolved and meet the


economic demands of today’s world
whether it be in technology,
entertainment, finance, or education.

6. Hong Kong A core of world-class service providers


and a highly productive workforce. It also
has taken a route of development of its
own, flourishing as an entrepot and a
center of commerce and finance for
Chinese business, then as an industrial
city and subsequently a regional and
international financial center.
7. Toronto Diverse and globally connected talent
pool of skilled, highly-educated and
culturally savvy individuals is the driving
force behind its economic prosperity and
innovation. Diversity truly is Toronto’s
strength, making the city a dynamic,
progressive and welcoming place to work
and live.
8. Beijing Ranks among the world’s most influential
cities. Beijing has developed into an
important global city in a relatively short
period of time. Beijing has benefited from
efforts by the Chinese government and
Beijing’s municipal government to elevate
the city’s international reputation, and
from Beijing’s legacy and position as
China’s political and cultural center. It has
also been massive investment in
infrastructure to support business and
innovation activities.
9. London London ranks second after New York.
The city is a metropolitan capital and
which still remains a powerful center and
therefore it has a mixture of different
cultures. This index is based on the rich
human resource and the cultural wealth
and other strengths. Business activities in
London are also of a very high index. The
human capital of the British capital is also
increasing.
10. Los Angeles Known as the global capital of the
entertainment industry but also has
developed systems of hyper-local arts
production that reflect the diversity of the
region. Partnerships and collaborations
are central to cultural life in the region.

On a short bond paper, draw a line graph illustrating the relationship of the fertility rate, death rate, and
population growth in each stage of demographic transition.
