Pre Lesson :
1. Review toy vocabulary by playing anagrams with the pupils.
2. Use key words from the unit. (e.g. train, monster)
Lesson Development:
1. Activity 1:
Elicit the names of about 10 toys which pupils like, and write these in a list on the board. Pupils may write words that are not from the textbook. Pupils may
need to ask you for help with vocabulary when telling you the toys. Distribute worksheets. Pupils write the names of any 7 toys from the list on the board in their
table.
2. Activity 2:
Tell pupils they have to find a classmate for toys in their table by asking What’s your favourite toy? Demonstrate the activity. Tell
pupils that they have to find names for 5 or more of the toys in the table. Pupils mingle and complete their tables. Stop when most but not all pupils are finished.
3. Activity 3:
Ask them to report back to you (e.g. Ayesha’s favourite toy is her ball).
. Post Lesson :
1. Based on activity 3, name one of the pupils’ favourite toy with changes.
2. Pupils listen and correct the differences to make it the same as the original

3.1.2 Recognise and sound out with support beginning, medial and final sounds in a word
1. most pupils will be able to identify and recognise the word shapes given with support.
2. most pupils will be able to recognise and sound out the word they have created.
Pre Lesson :
1. Display shape flashcards on the board.
2. Give pupils a minute to look at the shapes.
3. Pupils close their eyes and take one or two flashcards away
4. Pupils say which shapes are missing
Lesson Development:
1. Review the shapes vocabulary. On the board, write the word red. Ask pupils to read it. Then draw an outline around the word
that shows its shape when written. Draw the outline of another, longer word on the board and encourage pupils to guess what the word is.
2. Distribute worksheets. Pupils guess the words and write them. Check with the class.
3. Ask pupils to draw one or two word shapes for their partner to guess the word.
4. Give pupils some letters, glue and paper. Pupils arrange the letters on the paper to make words, then stick them. Next, pupils cut the paper to
show word outline. Each pupil should sound out the word they have created.
Post Lesson :
1. Pupils look around the room and write down all the shapes they can see
2. Give one or two examples to help them
