Fig. (1) shows an intermediate frame AFCDGBEH of a series of frames spaced
5 m. The frame is to be considered braced in the two directions in plane and out
of plane of the frame. The frame has a breadth 500mm and the slab thickness
120 mm. The concrete dimensions of the girder CD is 0.5 x 1.2m and the
cantilever EF or GH at a maximum depth is 0.5 x 1.0m. It is required to
determine the following:
a) B.M., S.F., and N.FD. diagrams.

b) Design the critical sections and check shear stresses of frame.
c) Design hinged base.
d) Draw to a convenient scale the intermediate frame shown clearly all concrete
dimensions and reinforcement details in elevation and cross sections.
