acquiring knowledge and solving problems.
Performance Standard: The learners shall be able to: perform in groups in guided
investigations involving community based problems using locally available materials.
I. Pre-Assessment
 Knowledge
For each situation below, state a problem and form a hypothesis.
1. Observation: Students are late to class.
Problem: __________________________________
Hypothesis: _________________________________

2. Observation: Someone is smoking a cigarette.

Problem: __________________________________
Hypothesis: _________________________________
3. Observation: Students are always tired in my first period class.
Problem: __________________________________
Hypothesis: ________________________________

 Understanding
YES or NO: are good scientific method questions
______ What is the best color in the world?
______Will using or not using fertilizer help a plant grow better?
______Do athletes run faster with or without vitamins?
______ How fast can humans run?

II. Formative Assessment

 Knowledge
Steps of the Scientific Method

A. Problem B. Hypothesis C. Experiment

D. Conclusion

1. Stephen predicted if an electric current traveled through the soil in

which seeds were planted then seeds would grow faster.

2. Susan said, “If I fertilize my plants, then they will blossom better.”

3. Jonathon’s data showed that household cockroaches moved away from

raw cucumber slices.

4. Rene grew bacteria from the mouth on special plates in the laboratory.
She placed drops of different mouthwashes on bacteria of each plate.

5. Dana questioned how synthetic fibers were different from natural fibers.

6. Angela’s experiment proved that earthworms move away from light.

7. Michael fed different diets to three groups of guinea pigs. His

experiment showed that guinea pigs need vitamin C and protein in their diets.

 Understanding
Recitation through Google meet: What question about the world around you could
be answered using the scientific method? Explain how you could use the scientific
method to answer your question.

Year Level: Grade 7
Quarter: Second
Subject: Science
Unit Topic: Animal and Plant Cell
Content standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of: the difference between
animal and plant cells
Performance Standard: The learners should be able to: employ appropriate techniques
using the compound microscope to gather data about very small objects and conduct
simple experiments
I. Pre-Assessment
 Knowledge
Quiz: Match the following cell parts to their function (job)
______ Nucleus A. makes food for plants
______ Cytoplasm B. hard outer structure of plant cells
______ Cell wall C. directs the cell’s activities
______ Chloroplast D. allows nutrients to go in and out of the cell
______ Cell membrane E. the jellylike inside of the cell

 Understanding
Which organelle is only found in plant cells? What is the function of the nucleus in
plant and animal cells? Which structure allows gases and nutrients in and out of cells?
What is the function of the vacuole in plant cells?

II. Formative Assessment

 Knowledge

of energy
Performance Standard: The learners shall be able to conduct a forum on mitigation
and disaster risk reduction

II. Pre-Assessment
 Knowledge
A Wave Acrostic: Create an acrostic by writing words or statements that you
know about waves. The first letter of each line should be able to spell out the word
“WAVES”.

 Understanding
Why is the Philippines considered as the texting capital of the wold?
How does a sound you make travel in air?

III. Formative Assessment

 Knowledge
State True or False

1. Electromagnetic waves can travel in empty space or space that has no particles.
2. Transverse mechanical waves are waves that travel parallel to an applied force.
3. Longitudinal waves are the same as Transverse waves.
4. Surface waves are waves that travel along the boundary between two different
media, such as air and water or liquids of different densities.
5. Tsunamis are huge longitudinal waves caused by shift of tectonic plates.

 Understanding

Content standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the occurrence of
eclipses.
Performance Standard: Draw and manipulate models of solar and lunar eclipses.
I. Pre-Assessment
 Knowledge
Draw the location of the sun, moon, and earth during a lunar eclipse and during a
solar eclipse. MAKE SURE YOU LABEL THE SUN, MOON, AND EARTH!

 Understanding
Recitation through Google meet: Answer the question.
What happens if you hold out your hand in front of your face and cover the Sun
with your thumb?
How long does it take for the Earth to orbit the Sun?
What do you think happens when there is a lunar eclipse?
When do we experience solar and lunar eclipse?
Why do more people see a total lunar eclipse than a total solar eclipse?

5. The second most common type of the solar eclipse is ……………

 Understanding

Recitation through google meet: Identify if the following statement if the

statement is True and if not, explain.

1. Annual solar eclipse occurs when the moon blocks out the sun in such a way that
the border of the sun remains visible and Moon completely covers the Sun.
2. In case of total solar eclipse totality may last as long as 7 minutes 31 seconds.
3. Solar eclipse occurs when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Full Moon.
4. There are total 3 types of solar eclipses.
5. In case of partial solar eclipse some part of the sun is visible, whereas the blocked
part appears dark.
