2012 to Date; Assistant Procurement Officer (In charge Procurement, Student Welfare
Authority, University of Nairobi)
Duties and Responsibilities
provides advice and guidance to user units on procurement matters and relevant
processes (i.e. Requests for Proposals (RFP), Requests for Quotations (RFQ), bid evaluation
criteria other competitive procurement tools) to ensure users needs are met, the Student
Welfare Authority obtains best value, and to ensure procurement processes are perceived
by suppliers as fair, open and ethical;
Analyses procurement requirements and selects the most appropriate methods based on
interpretation and assessment of established policies, practices, and experience; plans,
organizes and leads the bid solicitation process including drafting and issuing RFQ, RFP,
developing bid evaluation criteria and guiding users on processes involved;
Planning, directing and supervising all the supply chain management activities at the
Student Welfare Authority;
Safeguard procurement and disposal documents and records in accordance with the
Public procurement Regulations;
Issue procurement and disposal documents to users in accordance with the Public
Procurement Act;
Implement the decisions of the procurement, tender and disposal committees, including
coordinating all activities of these committees;
Advise the Student Welfare Authority on aggregation of procurement to promote

Planning, directing and supervising all the operations of the Bookstore.

Working closely with Procurement to identify and develop vendors for mutual benefits
Coordinating all import shipments and liaising with foreign supplier.

Coordinating with the clearing and forwarding agents for timely clearance and ensuring
efficiency in importation process.
Carry out market survey, develop sales strategy, pricing and establish a strong client
network relationship through customer rapport and conducting follow up as needed.
