LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson students will be able to:
1. Represent the number 15 in a variety of ways.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT


● Video: Numberblocks 15
● Video: Count with me to 20 - Singing Walrus
● Both number 15 worksheets.
● Sponge ideas:
○ Review powerpoint
○ Book boxes
○ Colour in ten frames
○ Roll the dice until you get 15
○ Colour-by-number worksheets
○ Quiz students on what number I am representing on the board
○ Flashcards

PREPARATION AND LOGISTICAL CONSIDERATIONS


● Make sure both worksheets are printed and hole-punched.
● Once there is about 10 minutes left in the lesson I will hand out their duotangs and
they will put their sheets into them.

PROCEDURE
Introduction Time

● Song: Count with me to 20 - Singing Walrus


● Today we are going to learn the number 15. - let’s count to 15 with our 5 min
fingers.

Body Time
Topic 1) Play video: Numberblocks 15 - only play the first little bit
(while I’m drawing the worksheet on the board). 10 min
Place Value 2) Place value: draw a T chart. What digits do I need to
include? What position will these digits go in?
3) How do we represent this? (base ten blocks)

Topic 1) I will have drawn the worksheet on the board, now that it
is drawn we will fill it out together as a class. Students
Fill out worksheet will raise their hands if they want to answer one of the 25 min
together parts.
2) Once we’ve filled it in as a class, the students will go to
their desks and fill it in themselves. They will be copying
off of the board as they fill out the worksheet since we’ve
already done it together.

Topic 1) Students will go to their desks and work on both of the


worksheets for the number 15.
Work Time 2) I will circulate while they are working and ensure that 15 min
they are remaining on task and correctly filling in the
sheet.
3) If they finish they can play with flashcards, or do a
colour-by-number.

Closure Time

● What number did we learn today?


● Lets count to the number 15 together. 5 min
● What number do you think we’ll be doing tomorrow?

Assessment
Summative:
- Worksheets (both printing and representing 15)

Formative:
- Observation during centres and carpet time.
