Introduction
& Time
Videos
Ppt Students will listen to the UAE anthem.
Tr: you have to switch your Camera and Microphone off and be on time.
20 mins Tr: now we will listen to the Month of the year song.
Tr: what month is this?
Ss: October.
Tr: what date is today?
Ss: 14.
Students will listen to “7 days of the week song”
tr: what day is today?
Ss: Wednesday.
Tr: how many days we have in the week?
Ss: 7.

- Prior knowledge:
Tr: before we begin the lesson, who can tell me what we learn last class? Who
can tell me, 45 + 9 how many tens and ones in this equation?
Do we have to regroup?

Tr: what about the next one, 33 + 5, how many tens and ones in this equation?
Do we have to regroup? Yes or no?

- Modelling:

Tr: let's take the attendance, please send one emoji in the chat box.

Tr: you will need an eraser, math book, paper, pencil.

Tr: today we will learn about place value: tens and ones.

Tr: when we look at 35, each number has its own value.

Tr: there is a number in ones place which is 5, and a number in a tens place
which is 3.

Tr: we can see that the ones always on the right side, so 5 is represented as 5
ones cubes.

Tr: the next place is the tens place, which is always on the left side,
the number in the tens place is always ten times the number that shown. It's
like counting by 10 the number that you see.

Tr: in our number 35, the 3 is in a tens place.

Tr: to know the value of the number 3, we have to count by 10, 3 times.

Tr: let’s try it, 10, 20, 30, so the value of 3 is 30.

Tr: we have another easy way, is to put 0 the end of the number.

Tr: 3 in 35, is represented as 3 tens blocks which equal 30.

---
Another example:

Tr: in number 26, the 6 in the ones place, and the 2 in the tens place.

Tr: number 6 is represented as 6 cubes.

Tr: and number 2 in the tens place, so it will be 20, and it's represented as 2
tens blocks.
-----

Another example:

Tr: display 26, who can tell me which number in the ones place?
Ss: 6.
Tr: which number in the tens place?
Ss: 2.
Tr: so, we call 2 as what? 2 or 20?
Ss: 20.
Tr: why?
Ss: because it's in the tens place.

Tr: now we will add those 2 numbers.

Tr: first, 52+9 =
Tr: we count now 2 + 9 = 11 so we will write 1 down and the tens will be up
so we will carry up 1, now we will add 1 + 5 = 6 so the answer is 61.

Tr will solve 5 questions about add one-digit number to two-digit numbers by

regrouping.

After that, the teacher will solve the first “problem solving”, and let the
students solve the other one on their own after that ask one student to present
how he/she solve the equation.
