INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND:
The researchers aim to revive the playground to make it playable and harmless
for the children, to add plants that will help the environment in reducing air pollution,
tolerating heat and humidity, and for beautification purposes. This will benefits the
children of a healthy playground environment.
OBJECTIVES:
In recent years interest in urban mobility has grown considerably, not only due to the
urban increase in negative externalities generated by transport, but even because
recent theoretical innovations strategy are offering effective solutions especially in
public health context. In particular, the introduction of Physical Activity(PA) could
radically change the mobility scenario allowing in physical activity, improving the
attractiveness of Balikbayan Park, and on the other, the revitalization of landscaping
in Balikbayan Park measures on wide scale, without take the risk of environment
accessibility and creating social exclusion. The case study analyzed is represented by
the public area of Urdaneta City Balikbayan Park. Several scenarios have been
simulated and compared by means of (economic, environmental and social)
sustainability indicators.
For this study, researchers conducted extensive literature review scientific research
papers. As a result, researchers identified 3 (three) key-elements and introduced them
as PLACE: Economic Profile, Physical Activity, and Environment, of the Balikbayan
park. The Balikbayan Profile is defined as a combination of the following key-
attributes: physical condition; mobility choice; employment and education
background; social and cultural capital; playground type; and public interactive usage.
The Physical Activity is defined by the key-attributes as follow: walking-related
purposes; social interaction; walking intensity; walking habits; and transport health
interaction. Then the Balikbayan Environment is defined by the key-attributes of:
spatial planning features; children’s academically; children’s live-ability; children’s
playable; playground landscaping (hard elements); playground facilities (movable,
and recycled elements); to environmental quality. Based on this, authors suggest that
those key-elements and their key-attributes need to be carefully addressed in the
planning process of a sustainable environment.
This chapter primarily presents the different researches and other literature's form
both
foreign and local researchers, which have significant bearings on the variables
included in the research. It focuses on several aspects that will help in the
development of this study. The study is generally concentrating on the feasibility of
creating an online student information system for College of Urdaneta City University
(UCU). The literature's of this study come from books, journals, articles, electronic
materials such as PDF or Email, and other existing thesis and dissertations, foreign
and local that are believed to be useful in the advancement of awareness
concerning the study.
