Program accessibility and
availability. The growth
of the population in the
Philippines the
program seeks to find
other sources of water,
such as, surface water
and ground water.
Researchers also
analyze the pollutants,
the level of toxicity and
the water’s historical
flow for future
purposes on their plan
until 2022.
Health Sufficiency - On-going One of their goal is to
LIKAS (Likas Yaman educate the people
sa Kalusugan) Program about the basic
veterinary knowledge,
to know the disease
and how to lessen its
possibilities to take
over the body with the
help of herbal
medicine. They are also
taught about the
proper perception and
concepts about health
and for them to model
the good authority in
managing the health of
the citizens. Being able
to obtain natural
products from the wild
gave them the benefit
that will supply them.
On-going Researches are don
about the highly
vulnerable type of
ecosystem, in
particular, lakes, rivers
and etc. Quantitative

hazardous effects and
its risks of mining are
part of the
presentation, stating
that the heavy
materials and other
anthropocentric
activities has a huge
impact to the
environment.
Health Research and On-going This program is to
Development Agenda lower the possibilities
of an individual out of
ten people acquiring
dengue and to give
information on how to
Dengue (Program DEWS avoid the increase the
or Program on Dengue
percentage of the
Early Warning System)
victims of the said
disease. Dengue is a
deadly disease that
came from a bite of a
certain mosquito that
lives and also
reproduce in open and
dirty water that affects
and destroying the
immune system of the
victim that can easily
be seen in any
environment that is
abundant of excess
water. The
development and
improving the
responses are made to
avoid the outbreak and
how to predict its
upcoming by
conducting a survey to
know the early signs of
Dengue.
On-going The researchers
focused on addressing
the nutrition problems
in the Philippines and
to find the solution on
how to lower the
Nutrition and Food percentage of Filipinos
Quality and Safety that experiences
(“Grand Launch of nutrition related
2020: Perfect Vision for diseases. The
Nutrition”) preparation and the
food’s quality and its
safety are discussed to
avoid the harm of the
consumers. After
inspecting the qualities,
the program also holds
feeding programs to
reduce the nutrition
related diseases that
focused on the children
and monitoring the
participants are
included.
Hospital Equipment On-going The development and
and Biomedical Devices production of safe and
affordable hospital and
biomedical equipments
for the indigenous
people are made, to
lessen the physical
work and to produce
accurate patterns.
Designs are also
researched and sought
after by the programs
to be easily learned
and used by the
people. Plans for the
year 2019-2022 that
focused on upgrading
of medical devices that
focuses on protective
wear, spinal disorders
and etc.
Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Crops R&D Agenda On-going The crops, soil and
Resources production are
evaluated in the
program and knowing
its strength and
weakness by
monitoring them
constantly and to know
what to improve what
they lack. They monitor
the optimization of the
crops and conducting
the removal of the
build-up of pests and
diseases and avoid to
the emerging ones. The
program discussed
studies about the
development of
technologies that’ll
help the farmers evade
future problems
regarding diseases that
might affect the crops.
Socio-Economics and On-going The continuous review
Policy Research of the policies is the
specific goal of the
program where they
look for its strength
and weaknesses about
natural resources or
environment related
issues. Other related
issues are covered;
agricultural trade,
economies of collective
farming are also
discussed. Programs
and projects
concerning the
improvement of the
technologies and its
impacts to use for
future references and
to build a policy that is
fitting for the
environment.
Natural Resources and On-going Sustainable and
Environment R&D effective management
Agenda to decrease
environmental
problems and forest
waste to protect the
ecosystem are listed in
the Agenda.
Researchers monitor
the ecosystem to come
up with strategies to
survive the changes of
the climate and
strengthen its
resiliency. Unique
landscapes and
ecosystems are seen
and took importance
by the researchers that
is innovative to
different outcomes.
Industry, Energy, and Emerging Food and Nutrition Program stopped until The affordability and
Technology Security 2018 safety of no
contamination on the
food are given those
individuals who seek
budget-friendly food
who takes importance
on their safety. The
food’s shell life is
learned and taught in
the program to avoid
wasting food to cater a
large variety of people.
Making of fishery-by
products as a way of
preserving food,
innovation must be
done to be able to
store enough food to
distribute.
Competitive Industries Program stopped until Due to the progressive
2018 world, ICT and other
Technologies
continued to prosper
and trend until now,
their inventions
interests the
businesses in order to
attract the consumers
of the new generation.
Also, the mining
businesses opted to
seek a new approach
that doesn't affect the
environment, they
came up with the
program called Green
Mining. As the
businesses to grow and
improve with the new
materials and
technologies they also
helped the
environment by not
producing or using
harmful materials for
their items which is the
goal where the both
parties won.
Delivery of Social Program stopped until Wastewater
Services 2018 management is
considered as one of
the solutions that the
program offers to avoid
hazardous materials
that might affect the
environment, by the
act of proper disposal
that is taught in the
program to the
communities. One of
their objectives is to
reduce the pollution by
acquiring water from
different sources to
prevent the scarcity of
a one body of water
that the communities
expects water from.
The program focused
on making the
environment safer and
cleaner with the
established air and
water and its proper
waste management.
Disaster Risk Reduction and Warning and On-going The program knew
Climate Change Adaptation Communication of their insufficient
Information communication
technologies to provide
warnings and alerts to
different towns about
the upcoming
phenomenons or
disasters. These
Information is to
prepare the
communities regarding
the upcoming
calamities, to give
them enough time to
prepare on their
evacuation. They made
a web based and
mobile based
communication to
spread awareness, it is
to be easier to
accessed and shared.
Technology On-going They want develop an
Development and instrument that can be
Application for used to monitor
Monitoring climates, weather and
other oceanic and
geological process that
will help them avoid
possible natural
disasters such as,
earthquakes, tsunamis,
landslide and others.
Data processing is also
needed for the
technology to work and
to help the researchers
produce an effective
list of possibilities and
find ways on how to
avoid it. The radar of
the instrument will be
put on the facilities
where the team will
process and monitor it
constantly to see any
changes.
Observation and On-going Being able to develop
Monitoring Networks the best technology to
monitor and observe
weather, climate
changes and geological
or oceanographic
process are the goal of
this program, to be
able to process an
outcome that can be
easily readable and
understood. Due to the
natural disasters that
can affect the
dangerous grounds
where the families built
their houses, especially
the indigenous people
who live in secluded
places, their safety is
the priority of the said
program. They also
budgeted to make a
Space facility and to be
able to make a satellite
system to be able to
radar discrepancies
outside the earth.
Answer the following questions in a clear and concise manner.

Having experienced the Senior High School Curriculum yourself, can you say that you have been prepared for
your chosen college course? Is your foundation in Science enough? Why or why not?
No, my strand STEM, doesnt align on my chosen college course which is Computer Science, the curriculum
focused on physics, chemistry and general mathematics that are correlated in Medicine and Engineering
courses. The instructors on Computer related subjects focused on the basics that is also learned in Junior High
School, the information isn’t enough for my course. Difficulty on catching up on subjects and topics when I
reached college, the topics that I learned in Senior High School was different in college because of the advance
application.

Describe how Science is incorporated to the K12 Curriculum. Identify the strong and weak
points of this system. (Refer to https://www.deped.gov.ph/k-to-12/about/k-to-12-basiceducation-curriculum/)
Graduating from the basic science to more complex that includes the different branches of sciences, they are
taught to students of Senior High, more specifically to STEM (Science, Technology and Engineering and
Mathematics to have knowledge and information that are inclined to their chosen and future careers.
Unfortunately, the weak points of the K12 Curriculum is that it stopped covering the over-all description of a
healthy person physically, mentally and emotionally on Senior High School students. STEM Strand focuses more
on Scientific knowledge and topics than the other strands in K12 Program, the weakness of the certain strand is
that they have less covered topics regarding the Language subjects and its components.

Answers:
1. The changes in their cropping calendar and the amount of working in the field and crop management.
2. Usage and consumption of non-traditional wild foods in times of scarcity to adapt.
3. Indigenous Climate hazards indicators and warning system for upcoming natural disasters.
4. The specific structures of houses and such before calamities to avoid casualties.
5. Suludnons bury their cassava tubers near the river stream to prolong their storage and shelf life
Look for a scientific explanation for each of the indigenous knowledge you have listed above. Cite your
references.
Answer:
1. The unpredictable weather of the Philippines forced the Indigenous people, the Ati and Suludnon to change
their cropping season. It is to avoid extreme temperature of the country, such as, the El Nino and El Nina
phenomenon that has widely affected thier crops. In order to adapt and to produce crops to be able to grow
reately affected their crops. shared by Rachel Mateo and Lolita Tizon, an Ati and Suludnon in a worshop held at
the University of the Philippines Los Banos in 2016.
2. Due to the scarcity of foods, they consume wild poisonous plants to survive, they adapted or made a way to
remove the poison if its prepared properly. They develop a way to avoid exepriencing food scarcity by
gathering food with hunting instruments and the use of hunting dogs to get food. Most of the gathered edibles
are plants because it is abundant to tribes who are close to forest.
3.The suludnons developed a close relationship with nature and developed a warning with proper observation
of the environment. The changes were the behaviour of animals and the changes of the characteristics of the
plants are the list of an upcoming phenomenon. The emergance of the orange flowers of the dapdap tree
signals that the rainy season is close and the tribe must get ready to the phenomenon.
4. The tribe build houses that is far from the river to be able to evacuate the area everytime there is a typhoon
coming. They also build a kurob or low huts to prevent their roofs from being blown away by the typhoons.
These are the adaptations that the Suludnons and Ati forced to do so, they do not want to move but they make
an invention to be able to survive the phenomenons.
5.Due to the El Nino phenomenon that is connected to the climate change, Suludnons are forced to prepare to
the extreme event by
