Choose 1 different city to describe. Each student will describe one city.

STEP 1: Get into groups of 3 or 4 students.


•STEP 2 : Choose the cities to describe. Each student will describe one
city. Make a list of the public places around the cities you have chosen.
Choose the public places that you are going to mention in the dialogue.
Classify them into singular or plural, to use the correct grammar. E.g.:

"There is an old church near my home“.

"There are modern museums in my town".


Make a list of the possible questions to use in the dialogue to ask about
locations. E.g:

"What is there in your town?"


"Is there a gas station in your city?

In my city, there is a/an...“

STEP 3:

Look at the grammar tenses from Weeks 6-9 to describe your cities.

•Use the grammar of There is/are (affirmative,


negative, Wh-questions, and Yes/No questions) and
present simple (affirmative, negative, Wh-
questions, and Yes/No questions).
•Use adjectives to describe the tourist places.

Where is the police station? Is there a hospital? Where is the fire station?
STEP 4: WRITE THE DIALOGUE AND RECORD YOUR VIDEO.
DON’T FORGET TO INTRODUCE YOURSELF! (name and lastnames!)

Student A: Hello, (students B and C)!


Student B and C: Oh… Hi (Student A)!
Student C: We’re happy to be here.
Student A: Now, I’m going to be your tour guide.
Student B: Perfect, tell me about your city…
Student C: Tell us about Lima. It seems a very interesting and crowded city.
Student A: Great! There are a lot of places to visit.
Student B: Ok, we’re ready!
Student A: By the way, where are you from?
Student B: I’m from Paris and (Student C) is from New York.
Student A: Wow! Wonderful!!! So, let’s start with the tour.
Student C: What is there in your city?
Student A: There are some modern and clean parks, but there are old and dirty parks, too. There are many beautiful and
touristic places, but there are some dangerous places here, too. That’s why you need an excellent tour guide.
Student B: In Paris, there are a lot of quiet parks and in general it’s a safe city.
Student C: In New York, there are some dangerous places too, but it’s a great place to live!
Student B: Is there an old museum near here?
Student A: Uhm... No, there isn’t. There is a new and modern museum: The MALI museum.
Student B: I live in Paris. In my city, there is an old museum: the Louvre Museum.
Student C: We have 100 museums in New York City!
STEP 4: WRITE THE DIALOGUE AND RECORD YOUR VIDEO.

Student B: And are there any churches near to the Main square?
Student A: Of course, there are some big and quiet churches, like The Cathedral of Lima.
Student B: There are 197 churches in Paris now. The Notre-Dame Cathedral is one of the top attractions of Paris.
Student C: We have more than 1000 churches in NY! My favorite one is Saint Patrick’s cathedral.
Student A: The Cathedral of Lima is in the Main square. In my city center, there are some busy and noisy places, too.
Student B: Oh, I see! Same in Paris, there are a lot of crowded and noisy places.
Student C: And in New York. Times Square, Chinatown…and are there any universities near to the city center?
Student A: Yes, there are. There are big and modern universities around the city center, like UTP!
Student B: Ok, what else do we have?
Student A: Let’s continue with other attractions…
Student B: Tell us about your beautiful beaches.
Student A: Near to my city there are many beautiful beaches, like Punta Hermosa, Naplo and and Asia. And there are
cheap and nice restaurants, too. You can eat a delicious ceviche or arroz con mariscos there.
Student C: Lima is close to the ocean. You have a lot of beaches! It’s not the same in New York.
Student B: There aren’t any beaches in Paris. And what about malls… Is there a cheap and small mall in your city?
Student A: No, there isn’t. There are a lot of expensive and big malls. The malls in Lima are beautiful and safe. Some of
them are very expensive and crowded on weekends.
