Chromium is very toxic by inhalation and dermal route and causes lung cancer, nasal irritation, nasal ulcer and hypersensitivity reactions like
contact dermatitis and asthma.

Health checkup: Boleh amik, PFM, and spirometry. Chest X Ray. PEFR, on work 2 weeks and off works 2 weeks (pre and post shift).

Most of them doesnt know about the effect on health
Asbestos, smoke, dust, nisocyanide gas, volatile chemicals may cause respiratory problems.
Abdominal, urinary, muscle and skin problems as well as nutritional deficiency are also identified among the workers, which are mainly caused due to toxic metal, oil and chemical contaminations as well as
excessive work load, long working hour, monotonous works, irregular eating, insufficient diet, unsafe drinking water, inadequate sanitation, and thelikes (.

Hazard indentification:
Function:
- Highlight the critical operations of the task, tasks that posing certain health n safety of the employees as well as the equipment they used

hazards can be categorized into 3 main groups:

- Health hazards
- Safety hazards
- Environmental hazards

Analyze and estimate risk

Risk: determination of likelihood and severity of the credible accident/event sequences

3 methods of analysis:
Qualitative:
- uses words to describe the magnitude of potential severity and the likelihood that those severity will occur.
- This method uses expert knowledge and experience to determine likelihood and severity category.
Quantitative: uses numerical values
Semi quantitative:
- qualitative scales such as those described above are given values.
- to produce a more expanded ranking scale than is usually achieved in qualitative analysis
- not to suggest realistic values for risk such as is attempted in quantitative analysis.

Risk can be calculated using the following formula:

L x S = Relative Risk
L = Likelihood
S = Severity

C

Definition: Control is the elimination or inactivation of a hazard
- engineering controls: The closer a control to the source of the hazard is the better.

Types of Control
Source of the hazard :
- Elimination
- Substitution

Engineering control:
- Redesign
- Isolation
- Automation
- Barrier
- Absorption
- Dilution

Administrative control:
- Safe work procedure
- Supervision & training
- Job rotations
- Housekeeping, repair and maintenance program
- Hygiene
PPE Personal Protective Equipment( least favorable)
- an equipment is intended to be worn or held by the person to protect themselves from potential hazard.
