Target Phrasal verbs:

run across: to find something or to meet someone by chance

√ bir şeye/birine rastlamak


√ I ran across the letter while I was tidying the drawers.

whip up: to try to make people feel strongly about something (fear, interest, support etc.)

√ artırmak, (bir duyguyu) tahrik etmek, … çekmek, …. salmak


√ They’ll do anything to whip up a bit of interest in a book.
√ Newspaper articles have whipped up fears of the new tax policies.

cut out: to stop something from happening or existing

√ bırakmak, (bir tavrı, eylemi vs.) kesmek

lighten up: used to tell someone not to be so serious about something

√ rahatlamak, sakinleşmek (sakinleş!)


√ It’s not end of the world, lighten up a bit.

give in: to finally agree to do or accept something that you had at first opposed, especially because
someone has forced or persuaded you to

√ pes etmek
√ Eventually I gave in and accepted the job on their terms.
√ The champion refused to give in and went on to win the set.

be into someone: to have a special interest for someone or something

√ biriyle ilgilenmek, hoşlanmak


√ I am so into her. I hope she doesn’t notice that because we are friends.
