Learning Activities:
1. Choose one cognitive activities and give examples by making your own activity for your patient,
set guidelines of the games.
- Trivia games are fun and popular activities for people of all ages, but they can be
especially helpful for seniors who want to exercise their recall skills and engage with family
or friends in an assisted living community. These games encourage seniors to think back to
past events or facts they have learned throughout their lives.
- I would call this game “Can you Recall it” wherein this comes in a number of categories,
and players (seniors) can choose based on their interests. Seniors can play a general trivia
game, or one that covers specific categories like TV shows, movies, religion, pop culture,
or music. They can even find games focused on specific decades, like Trivial Pursuit – The
Vintage Years (1920s-1950s). The rule is simple the first one to recall the correct answer
will be given the point.
- Learning trivia and playing trivia games can really only benefit your mental health. Trivia for
seniors is not only great for their mental health but can also help their memory as well.
Those who are masters of trivia are really just masters of memory – they can store a ton of
information, and recall it when necessary. This happens in the frontal cortex of the brain,
the area responsible for all memory. Therefore learning trivia “exercises” the part of the
brain that also stores the important memories, like doctor appointments and whether or not
you took your pills this morning.
2. Make a collage of picture showing the physiological and psychological condition of the elderly. (
you may use picture from internet, cut out picture from magazines and other reading materials).
