Music My analysis
Nature of Music The nature of music is not only to develop one’s capability but also to help people to
express their feelings and emotions. It also serve as a bridge that connects people into
more cultural understanding despite of differences

Structure of Music The structure of music help students to develop artistic expression wherein they will
express their feelings with the use of music and to be aware in culture and history of our
ancestor.

Content of Music Music is not only focuses on one emotion or rhythm. Through the content of music,
we can easily identify and understand what does the music all about and we can also
connect into its message.

Core Standards of Music The core standard of music is to help the student to achieve independency through
music literacy.
Key Standards of Music It focuses on the meaningful activities and practices in order to help students not
only to develop their abilities but also to understand the role of music on the progress of
the country.

Grade Level Standards Consideration of grade level in teaching music is important in order to come up into
more meaningful and helpful techniques to be used in achieving the purpose of the
curriculum.

Summary of Legal Basis of Teaching Arts


In 1963, DECS Memorandum Order #11 was issued and implemented in year 1957 which
implementing that all subjects under arts and physical education should have allotted time which is 40-50
minutes in teaching this in primary and intermediate grades.
Republic Act No.4723 (Music Law) is enacted in year 1966 and it was approved on 18 of June year
1966. This law is stating that we need to give importance in teaching of music in elementary as well as in
secondary levels.
Article II, Section 17 declared a policy that state to give priorities on education like arts to preserve
patriotism and nationalism. While in article XIV, Section 14, 15, 17, and 18 state that teaching music will
preserve and enrich our Filipino national culture as well as the cultural heritage, history and creation of an
artist. It also state that we should respect and protect the rights of indigenous people and to have equal
access in cultural opportunities such as education, scholarships and other incentives.
