ASME A17.l~-1999

Following approval by the ASME A17 Elevatorand Escalator Committee and ASME, andafter
public review, ASME A17.l~-1999 was approved by the American National Standards Institute on
May 13, 1999.
This is the third addenda to the 1996 edition of the Code. It was issued on June 30, 1999 and
is effective as of December 31, 1999.

page numbers. Where the length of the change necessitated the inclusion of additional pages, the
additional pages are numbered sequentially following a decimal point (e.g., page 32.1 should be
inserted follo*wing page32). Revisions are incorporated directly intothe affected page. It is advisable,
however, that this page, the Addenda title and copyright pages, and all replaced pages be retained
for reference.
