Kaycee Perkes TB Data Project Part 4

A. Treatment Success/ Failure

Success Failure Total
Marshall Islands 87 13 100
Maldives 61 39 100
Members of WH0

Saudi Arabia 90 10 100

Yemen 85 15 100
Viet Nam 91 9 100
Bulgaria 82 18 100
Myanmar 88 12 100
Algeria 86 14 100
Hungary 65 35 100
Ireland 4 96 100
Total 739 261 1000
This is a table that shows the success and failure rates of the countries I randomly
chose.

B. Probabilities
This will be testing the different probabilities of each situation from the above table.
1. P(1 or 3) → P(1) + P(3)- P(1 or 3)
100/1000) + 100/1000 = 200/1000= .2 probability of selecting a case from the 1st or 3rd
Member of WHO
2. P(3 or F) → P(3) + P(F)- P(3 or F)
100/1000 + 261/1000- 10/1000= 351/1000=.351 Probability of selecting a case from the 3rd
Member of WHO
3. P(3 and F) → P(3) x P(F)
100/1000 x 10/1000=10/1000=.01 Probability of selecting a case from the 3rd Member of
Who and is a failure
4. P(5 | F) → (9/261)= .0345 Probability of selecting a case from the 5th Member of WHO given
they are a failure

5. P( 5oneS, 5twoS, 5threeS) → (91/1000)(90/999)(89/998) = 728910/997002000=.0007

Probability of selecting three random cases that are all success from the 5th Member of WHO

C.
In this section of the project I am
conducting a confidence test to test
the difference of proportions. To find
the intervals where successful
treatment of TB range.

We are 95% confident that the

interval -.09 to .07 contains the true
diff. of Prop. of successful treatment
of TB in the 3rd and 5th Members of
WHO.

D.
In this section I’m doing a hypothesis test to figure out if success rate Is different between my
two countries of Saudi Arabia and Viet Nam

Hypothesis for success rate between my 3rd

and 5th Member of WHO

HO: P Success rate of Saudi Arabia = P

Success rate of Viet Nam

HA: : P Success rate of Saudi Arabia ≠ P

Success rate of Viet Nam

p-value: .8094 is bigger than alpha of .05

Test Statistic: -.241

Conclusion: We fail to reject the null

hypothesis there is insufficient evidence to
conclude that there Is a difference between
the successes of the Saudi Arabia and Viet
Nam, Members of WHO.
