Canal making: Solution over Threat

The ongoing canal making in front of Senior High School in Calatagan is a big help as it will reduce
flooding during heavy rains but has brought discomfort to residents, drivers, and commuters particularly
to students prompting varied reactions and feedbacks.

With the allocated budget funded by the Local Government Unit (LGU), the construction started ___.

Canals or navigations are human-made structure which enables water to have proper ways during rainy
days and everyday life.

Suffering each year by typhoons and lacking a drainage system has been a problem when it comes to
waterways. As LGU proposed this kind of project, canal making, more benefits come on our way. It will
be a beneficial for all, for drivers, commuters, and residents and mostly for students.

Canal making when it’s done can give a proper flow of water and it will not cause floods whenever heavy
rains occur. Residents in that area will no longer worried every time rains come.

It can be a big help for drivers too, it will not cause traffic anymore, because students can walk on the
sideways where canals are located and more organized too.

And it will be a hassle free for students to go to school because no more water stuck in the streets and it
will help to lessen floods that burden students during rainy season, less floods less class suspension
more time of learning.

If we think for the future results of the said project probably it will fall like that. But let us think the
construction now. Let us think what can be the possible effects of it now to the drivers, commuters,
residents and especially for students who go to that school where construction are ongoing? Do you
think it is safe, imagine the project is in front of the school blocking your way going to school? Summer
season had been passed why they do not construct on that season? Is it reasonable to construct such
project during school hours?

Construction during school hours can cause many problems and accidents.

It’s hard because of that project to be in the street especially when it rains, I wished they do it during
summer time when there’s no student rather than school hours

For drivers, it is more difficult to them to take the streets whenever they take students to school. It also
takes time get rid of that streets because it became narrow brought by construction, and students
waking by. And it can cause accident during school hours due to the population of students and vehicle
passing by.

If drivers are having a hard time what more to student who go and study in the school where canal
making are located.

Its hassle to go to school because there’s a narrow way and it is dangerous because of heavy equipment
that trigger our safety plus it causes noise which makes hard to study and concentrate. Dinalyn

The most affected in that proposed solution are the students who take the risk of going to school. If we
think now, it can be a threat to the safety of students because of those heavy equipments they used.
What if it malfunctions during the dismissal of class where students are outside? We cannot say the
accident; we cannot predict the accident.

It causes noise especially when they used bako to broken cement. It’s hard to stay focus whenever your
teacher is discussing.

We appreciate the concern of LGU and glad to know that we are processing. Having that project is not
the issue but the time of construction is the problem. The bottom line here is the safety of the students.
We are not opposed to the said project but to construct it during school hours I don’t think so. The
summer season end yet they do not construct, the semester break is near then maybe they can
construct on that day, why are they going in between, in school hours? It said that “prevention is better
than cure “we only think that quotation. If we only think the future outcomes without considering the
present outcomes, it’s not for everyone it’s just for anyone. We do know that we need to sacrifice if
there’s no more way but if there’s a way do we need to sacrifice? The project is a solution to future but
has been a threat to present.
