High and low-pressure systems usually determine whether you have a sunny or rainy

day. The weather affects one’s commute to school because regular public transport is

affected by rainfall and flooding, car accidents cause traffic and heavy rainfall affects

one's mood to commute to school.

For starters, the weather affects one’s commute to school as regular public

transportation is affected by rainfall and flooding. As most public transportation is

private, taxi and maxi drivers have the ability to stop working as they please, whether it

be during sunshine or rain. Flooding causes damage to parts of the vehicle and

passengers cause their vehicles to become wet and dirty and as such, drivers withdraw

their services from the public until the weather settles.

Secondly, the weather affects one’s commute to school as the rainfall causes car

accidents and traffic. On the way to school, there are many cars, possibly driving

through the rain. Due to low maintenance of one’s vehicle, having smooth tires can

cause the car to skid off the road. Perhaps, crashing into the pavement, another vehicle

or other pedestrians passing by. Road accidents cause a backup of traffic and will slow

down one’s commute to school. Also, cars must drive slowly because the rain fall

causes fog on the interior of the windshield and blurs the vision of the driver. Therefore,

slow driving will also affect one’s commute to school.

Lastly, one’s mood to commute to school is heavily impacted by the weather. When a

student/teacher has prepared themselves in readiness for their commute to school,

suddenly the rain comes pouring down. This leaves them in a state of standstill until the

rain subsides. After waiting for an hour one’s mood will automatically change to staying

at home. Many people do not like the rain because it makes them sad and this
sometimes is enough to alter the decision-making of a person to not make the commute

to school.

Regular public transport being affected by rainfall and flooding, car accidents cause

traffic and heavy rainfall changing one’s mood, all affect the commute to school. It is

important to stay safe during the rainy season because it is dangerous and as such one

should take the necessary precautions even if it means staying at home.
