INTRODU
CTION
•A d v a n c e d driver assistance systems  (ADAS) are primarily focused on

collision avoidance technologies (for example, lane departure warning

and blind-spot applications) and driver aids, such as, driver alertness

and adaptive cruise control.

• The implementation of cameras in the vehicle involves a new AI function that uses sensor

fusion to identify and process objects.

• This technology can physically respond faster than a human driver ever could. It can analyze
streaming video in real time, recognize what the video shows, and determine how to react to it.

EXISTING SYSTEM AND ITS
DISADVANTAGES
ADAS systems have been implemented in many vehicles as light scale to
heavy , it is developing throughout the year . ADAS systems can be also
seen in motorcycles , cars and trucks. it do gets an outstanding output

where humans reach their limit . Although it is useful in different

situations but it has its limitations.
The limitations and disadvantages are:
o ADAS feature may not work correctly all the time
o Only top variants of the models gets adas and its expensive to maintain.
o With ADAS taking over some essential driving tasks like parking and keeping the car in the
lane, drivers could become too reliant on the technology, and therefore may miss more
potential road hazards around them.

o ADAS can be hacked and can put passengers life at risk.

o Drivers need to take note that complete vehicle automation technology is far from

being perfect.

Proposed System And Its
Advantages
o Almost all vehicle accidents are caused by human error, which can be avoided with Advanced
Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
o The role of ADAS is to prevent deaths and injuries by reducing the number of car accidents and
the serious impact of those that cannot be avoided.
Essential safety-critical ADAS applications include:
• Pedestrian detection/avoidance
• Lane departure warning/correction
• Traffic sign recognition
• Automatic emergency braking
• Blind spot detection

o The driver is relieved from the task of careful acceleration,
deceleration and braking in congested traffics .
o Since the breaking and acceleration are done in a systematic
w a y, t h e f u e l e f f i c i e n c y o f t h e v e h i c l e i s i n c r e a s e d .
o It also alerts driver when the driver gets drowsy and it keeps
alerting.

Features of
ADAS
• Adaptive Cruise control
• Lane keep Assist
• Cross-Traffic Alerts
• Automatic parking Assist
• Blind Spot Alert
• Forward Collison Warning/Avoidance

1) Adaptive Cruise Control

• It keeps your vehicle at a set

speed, additionally it slows
down or accelerates to keep a
safe distance from the car in
front of you.

• As a consequence, the driver

enjoys more comfort and can
b e t t e r c o n c e n t r a t e o n t h e t r a ff i c .

2) Lane Keep Assist

• You may receive an alert - via a

sound, flashing light or vibration - if
you drift out of your lane.
• Return to your lane , if you don't
take action, this feature may gently
steer you back to the center of the
lane.

3) Cross Traffic Alerts
• Rear cross traffic alert monitors two
areas behind you for vehicles
approaching from the right or left.

• Rear cross traffic alert is active once the

vehicle is shifted into REVERSE.

• When backing, you will receive a visual or

auditory warning if an approaching vehicle
enters the rear cross traffic alert detection
areas.

4) Automatic parking Assist

The most common automatic parking assist

systems take control of the steering when
the driver is parallel parking. Many of
these will also steer into a perpendicular
parking space at a 90-degree angle from the
direction the vehicle is traveling

5) Blind Spot Alert

Assists the driver to avoid a collision by

detecting vehicles in the blind spot area
when changing lanes. When the system
detects a vehicle driving in an adjacent lane
approaching the rear of the driver's vehicle -
a common blind spot area, it notifies the
driver with an indicator.

6) Forward Collison Warning/Avoidance
The Intelligent Forward Collision
Warning system uses a radar sensor
located in the front of the vehicle to
detect the distances between the two
cars ahead, as well as their relative
speed.
It’s designed to warn you if
you’re about to crash into a slower
moving or stopped car.
